A woman has been accused of chopping off her trumpet-playing, music producer husband’s penis and leaving a knife buried in the victim’s eyeball in Argentina.
Florencia Amado Cattaneo, a 41-year-old psychologist, has now been seized by police for the horrific alleged murder, and sent for psychiatric assessment.
The body of the suspect’s 47-year-old husband Pedro Federico Zarate’s was reportedly found at the couple’s residence in Altos de San Lorenzo with the knife embedded in his eye, and his genitals mutilated.
Amado Cattaneo was arrested on January 11, after fleeing to her mother’s house in a taxi ‘with bloodstains on her hands’, her sister Patricia revealed.
Zarate’s body was found by his sister-in-law on the bed at the apartment he shared with his wife and five-year-old son.
His body was covered with stab wounds all over his body and his genitals were mutilated, according to local media reports.

Amado Cattaneo has been admitted to the psychiatric ward of a medical center in La Plata, where she will undergo tests. If she is ruled mentally incompetent, she will not go on trial, say investigators and the Prosecutor’s Office.
Footage from the police station as Cattaneo arrived showed her being helped forward by officers with a grimace on her face, local reports said.
Local news said despite her being taken to the station on a warm night, she was photographed wearing a jacket over the top of her dress.

Pedro, a Cordoba native wedded Florencia Amado Cattaneo in 2017. The couple share a five-year-old son and had been together for over a decade.
The trumpet player and a music producer had worked at the Estacion Provincial cultural center in La Plata since 2006.
His wife, Amado Cattaneo, had been employed by the General Directorate of Culture and Education of the Province of Buenos Aires since 2012.
