The Bolton Crown Court, UK, jailed a drug dealer’s ex-wife after she was convicted of helping to arrange the brutal gangland murder of her “hated” ex-husband in a violent home invasion last year. The Crown Court did not buy her grieving widow act, after establishing that she was in communication with the men who killed her ex, just before the brutal murder.
Mom-of-four Colleen Campbell, 38, was sentenced to 13 years in prison after being convicted of manslaughter but cleared on murder charges in the death of her husband of 10 years – They shared two children whom they co-parented since their divorce.
The victim, Thomas Campbell, 38, was ambushed by three armed men at the front door of his home in Mossley, Tameside. He was then dragged inside and tortured to death in a two-hour “extraordinary act of barbarism”, the Crown Court heard.

Two of her co-conspirators have been convicted and sentenced, but Colleen was facing a possible life sentence after being accused of playing key role in his brutal slaying.

The Court heard that on July 25, 2022, the home invaders forced Campbell inside his home.
They proceeded to stab, punch and stomped the homeowner before boiling water was poured on his buttocks.
Stephen Cleworth was due to be at Thomas Campbell’s home that night but did not show up as he had been on a “bender” at a swingers club.
However, prosecutors said, Cleworth played a key role in prepping the “carefully planned, practiced, ruthless, armed assault”.

On July 2, 2022, the three men grabbed Campbell near his home in Mossley, Tameside, UK and forced him inside. He was stabbed, punched and stomped, then boiling water was poured on his buttocks. The home was left covered in blood
John Belfield, the alleged mastermind of the murder conspiracy to kill Campbell remains a fugitive, believed to hiding out in Spain. Campbell was in a relationship with his ex-partner

A tracking device was placed on his car as he picked up his daughter from school and Belfield, Cleworth and Steven conducted reconnaissance missions to his home.
Campbell was seen plotting with the gangster on CCTV at her home just two hours before the killing.
She had conspired with Belfield to have her former husband robbed of cash, drugs or valuables.
At around 11.06pm, three men burst out of a van parked in the driveway of an unoccupied house.
Thomas screamed as he was dragged into his home, which was ransacked by the thugs.
Blood splattered the walls of his smart new-build home as he was bound and brutalized while being tortured for two hours.
He had been dragged around the house as the attackers took as much money or drugs as they could get their hands on.

Thomas was then left to die in the hallway before being discovered the following day by a neighbor.
Bizarrely, Campbell was caught after a meeting with a clairvoyant four days after the brutal killing.
She told Thomas’ mum Lynn he had visited her beyond the grave to reveal details of his death.
Suspicious the information had not yet been released to the public, Lynn went to police to report her former daughter-in-law.

Prosecutors accepted Campbell probably did not want Thomas to die but said her alliance with Belfield ultimately led to Thomas’ death.
Senior Crown Prosecutor Lucy Scully said: “Thomas must have been absolutely terrified during the vicious and relentless two-hour attack.
“It was pre-planned and sophisticated and each person played their part in causing Thomas’s death.”
