<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A man and a woman have been charged with murder after four people were shot dead in a Dallas apartment Sunday, where a baby was also found unharmed.<br>Police responded to reports of a shooting in the northwest of the Texan city at 7pm where two men and two women were discovered with fatal gunshot wounds.<br>Azucena Sanchez, 20, and Artemio Maldonado, 18, were arrested three hours later after Dallas Police located their vehicle a few miles from the apartment complex along Villaverde Avenue. <br>The victims have been identified as Juan Diego Cruz, Lupe Cruz, 19-year-old Jazmin Borja-Santos and a fourth victim only identified as Fatima.<br>An arrest warrant affidavit revealed that Sanchez was the ex-girlfriend of Juan Diego Cruz and that they were in a custody dispute over their child.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The authorities have not released the victims’ names as their families are being notified and have not provided information on a possible motive for the shootings.<br>Sanchez and ;Maldonado were taken to Dallas Police Headquarters and to the Dallas County Jail and each charged with Capital Murder.<br>Family members of the victim are said to have told police Sanchez and Maldonado had made multiple threats against them.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A neighbor told police investigators he thought he heard gunshots around 1 a.m. but did not call police. Security video from the complex showed a Black Ford Mustang, believed to belong to Maldonado, leaving the complex around 1:11 a.m. ;<br>Detectives found the Mustang in a different apartment complex parking lot a few miles away and took both suspects into custody as they were walking toward the car just after 10 pm. A Glock handgun was found between the driver&#8217;s seat and door, police said.<br>The infant wasn&#8217;t injured but was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The baby is now in the care of Child Protective Services.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Maldonado admitted to shooting all four of the victims in his police interview, the affidavit said.<br>Sanchez told police they thought the apartment was empty and they broke in through a back bedroom window to take money before they were confronted by the victims and Maldonado shot them.<br>They took an empty box from a bedroom closet believing it contained money as they left the scene.</p>
