<p>A US Marine Corps recruiter who counseled sexual assault victims has been charged with grooming and raping a 16-year-old school girl. The married Marine admitted to his teenage mark, “I’m a dirty old man and you love it,” according to the victim.<br>Staff Stg Mason H. Wallace, 28, was charged with third-degree rape after he allegedly started a relationship with a schoolgirl after meeting her at a recruitment event.<br>The victim said: &#8216;I would look back at my messages with him and he said some weird things.<br>&#8216;At the time, I didn&#8217;t notice it was like grooming, but it is grooming.&#8217; </p>

<p class="has-small-font-size"><strong>The victims mother previously spoken out about what had happened to her daughter in an interview and criticized the school district over their inaction</strong></p>



<p>Wallace reportedly, met the victim during a visit to Longwood High School, Long Island, in October 2022.<br>Her family ties and love of video games, mainly Call of Duty, drew her to Wallace and the two exchanged discord information to chat to each other. <br>Wallace is alleged to have used a home visit to play video games with the teen while her mother wasn&#8217;t home, or even aware Wallace was visiting. <br>According to the teen this then led to unprotected sexual intercourse and she grew concerned about pregnancy. <br>Wallace is then alleged to have come to her home again and they engaged in sexual intercourse, this time using protection. <br></p>

<p>A condom and the teen&#8217;s phone have been taken into evidence by the Suffolk County Police Department. <br>The young woman&#8217;s mother told <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://longisland.news12.com/suffolk-dasays-marine-corps-recruiter-charged-with-third-degree-rape" target="_blank">News12 </a>that she discovered in February Wallace had been talking to her daughter since the recruitment event at the school.<br>She said: &#8216;He was bringing her in little special gifts that nobody else was getting. Telling her she looks pretty, you know things like that, and this was all happening at school.&#8217;<br>“He continued to speak to her about enlisting all this time as if the Marine Corps were his pimp and he their prostitute,” the victim’s mother said.<br>He is alleged to have told her: &#8216;I&#8217;m a dirty old man and you love it.&#8217; <br>A letter dated March the 27th was sent to parents of students at Longwood High School.<br>It said: &#8216;The district was recently made aware of an allegation that a local military recruiter had unprofessional and inappropriate interactions with one of our high school students.</p>

<p>&#8216;Immediately upon learning of these allegations, we initiated a full investigation into the reported misconduct and referred the matter to the Suffolk County Police Department for further investigation. <br> &#8216;This individual has been permanently banned from all school grounds, and we will continue to work with the appropriate authorities to ensure that this matter is dealt with to the full extent of the law.&#8217; <br>Wallace was immediately suspended from his recruiting duties following the initial allegations. He could face up to four years in prison and be forced to register as a sex offender if found guilty.<br>Wallace’s lawyer said his client maintains his innocence until proven guilty. He is due back in court on May 31.<br>In a statement, the Marine Corps said: &#8216;The Marine Corps is aware of the allegations regarding a Marine Corps recruiter assigned to Recruiting Station New York, and the situation is under investigation.<br>&#8216;The Marines of Recruiting Station New York take such allegations very seriously and are cooperating with local law enforcement.&#8217; <br>Wallace&#8217;s lawyer said his client maintains his innocence until proven guilty. </p>
