A 71-year-old American man has been arrested after the body of his Filipina girlfriend was found inside a water drum at their home near the Philippine capital of Manila.Ā 
Police in Bacoor city said they arrested William Thomas Worth on Tuesday after discovering 48-year-old Mila Loslos’ body inside the blue plastic container. The body had been sealed in a garbage bag and duct tape inside the drum, which had been stored inside a cupboard in the home.

Officers said they visited the home hours after Mila’s 21-year-old son, Nino Jay Loslos, reported that his mother had been missing for four days.
Loslos told authorities he had visited the residence his mother shared with her American live-in partner William Thomas Worth, after becoming concerned for her welfare.
Worth was home, but the septuagenarian expatriate allegedly claimed he did not know where Mila was. Loslos became suspicious after he smelled a ‘foul odor’ inside the house and reported to police.

Officer’s discovered Mila’s body inside the blue plastic drum. Police also recovered three knives and a length of nylon rope.
ā€œThe body was already bloated, it was inside the drum and covered with packing tape. Based on our assessment, the victim has been dead for two to three days,ā€ Bacoor City police chief Ruther Saquilayan told the Manila Bulletin.Ā 
After the gruesome discovery, police arrested Worth on suspicion of murder.Ā

Police believe Worth and Loslos had an argument after Worth found out that Loslos also had a husband and child, contrary to her claim that she was single.
During the argument, Loslos slipped and hit her head and Worth allegedly strangled her to death.
The authorities said the suspect had wounds on different parts of his body.
Police said an autopsy would be performed to determine the cause of the victim’s death.

Worth is now under the custody of Bacoor CPS and is facing a murder charge. He is scheduled to undergo inquest proceedings on May 10.
‘We are aware of this case. Due to US Privacy Act considerations, we cannot provide any further information,’ a US embassy spokesman in Manila said.
