<p>A Pennsylvania nurse has been accused of administering lethal doses of insulin that resulted in the death of two patients and the hospitalization of a third after she &#8216;felt bad for their quality of life.&#8217;<br>Heather Pressdee, 40, from Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, was charged on Wednesday with two counts of homicide, in connection with the deaths of two men one 55 another 83.<br>Pressdee was also charged with the attempted murder of a 73-year-old man, one count of aggravated assault and three counts of neglect of a care dependent person and three counts of reckless endangerment. <br>The deranged murders took place at the skilled nursing facility in Chicora where Pressdee worked. Pressdee was a registered nurse working at Quality Life Services (QLS), a retirement nursing facility, in Chicora.<br>Investigators said the victims had been under Pressdee&#8217;s care when they received overdoses of insulin that caused medical emergencies for all and two deaths.</p>

<p>Pressdee is also said to have been disciplined for abusive behavior towards patients and/or staff at 11 health facilities since 2018, and she had either resigned or been fired from those. <br>The two men died on Dec 4, 2022 and Dec 25, 2022 and the victim who survived was administered a potentially-lethal dose of insulin on Aug 31, 2022.<br>The affidavit obtained alleges that Pressdee gave lethal doses of insulin, a hormone used to reduce levels of blood sugar in people with diabetes to her victims. <br>The 55-year-old and the 83-year-old had become ill while in Pressdee&#8217;s care in November of last year.<br>According to the affidavit, the two men had been &#8216;suite mates&#8217; with their rooms connected via a Jack and Jill bathroom. <br>On the same night, both men had to be sent to the hospital for the same condition, hypoglycemia, within thirty minutes of each other. </p>

<p>The two men later died as a result of this, and one nurse practitioner who was interviewed by police said in her thirty years of experience she had never seen anything like this. She recalled a conversation with Pressdee, the suspect told her the 83-year-old victim would be “better off dead.”<br>The nurse also said that Pressdee had told her one of the men &#8216;would be better off dead.&#8217; <br>The 73-year-old man who survived was also under Pressdee&#8217;s care at the care facility and was allegedly given an overdose of insulin, despite not being diabetic. <br>According to the affidavit, the man started to have seizures and suffered from severe hypoglycemia shortly after Pressdee provided direct care to him.<br>When police interviewed Pressdee at her home on Wednesday, she allegedly, admitted to injecting two of the victims with insulin, hoping &#8220;they would slip into a coma and just pass away,&#8221; the affidavit said.<br>She told officers that the surviving victim, who had been in COVID isolation, asked Pressdee to &#8216;kill him&#8217;.<br>Pressdee also told investigators that she felt bad for the two men who later died and that their &#8216;quality of life was not good&#8217; before injecting them with insulin.</p>

<p>In a statement, Quality Life Services said: &#8216;Quality Life Services is shocked and devastated to learn that the charges brought against Ms. Pressdee by the Attorney General’s Office include alleged illegal activity that occurred at our QLS Chicora facility. <br>&#8216;We will continue to fully cooperate with the Attorney General’s Office as needed in the investigation and prosecution of this matter. <br>&#8216;We can assure our community, our residents, our families and our staff that all residents of Quality Life Services &#8211; Chicora are safe and are receiving appropriate care and services.&#8217;</p>
