<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A 19 year old woman sobbed in court after she and her two friends were denied bond for allegedly joining forces to murder the former boyfriend of one of the trio, while egging the victim&#8217;s house in Georgia.<br>McKenzie Davenport, bowed her head and wept in her prison jumpsuit, while her handcuffed accomplices, Sydney Maughon and Jeremy Munson, both 18, looked emotionless at the hearing.<br>The trio each stand accused of malice murder, battery and criminal trespass after Johnathan Gilbert, 22, was shot dead on July 3 in Griffin, Georgia.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Johnathan, who also goes by the name Tyler Lane, was found lying motionless in the middle of Dobbins Mill Road after being shot. The three teens had been egging his house when he came out and confronted them.<br>The fatal incident was triggered by an ongoing lovers&#8217; quarrel. Gilbert from Texas had been invited to come spend the week in Griffin, Georgia friend, Kaylee Morgan, an old friend with whom he was becoming closer. Sydney Maughon with whom he he had a past arrived in a car with two friends to deface the house where he was staying.<br>Gilbert came out of the house to confront the vandals, but ended up being shot multiple times.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Johnathan&#8217;s ex-girlfriend, Sydney Maughon, is said to have been in the back seat of a car when she produced a firearm and shot him multiple times, police said.<br>Johnathan was begging for his life when the male member of the trio, Jeremy Munson, allegedly snatched his necklace &#8211; containing his father&#8217;s ashes &#8211; and fled in a car. He died at the scene. <br>As well as the other charges, Maughon and Munson have also been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.<br>They were all denied bond at the Thursday morning hearing. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Gilbert and his ex-girlfriend Sydney Maughon had reportedly been in an &#8216;ongoing lovers&#8217; quarrel&#8217; after Gilbert became closer with another woman, Kaylee Morgan. <br>Morgan, who was in the house when the egging began, told NewsNation that Gilbert &#8216;came outside to confront her [Sydney], and they all ran back to the car&#8217;.<br>Gilbert then approached the car.<br>She said: &#8216;From what I think happened, she shot him when he was running up to the car<br>&#8216;He just collapsed, and he was alive for about 10 minutes, begging for someone.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&#8216;It’s very sad. Because he lost his dad that way. From what I’ve heard, Jeremy got out of the car and snatched his necklace off of him. <br>&#8216;It was his dad’s ashes. He was begging for his life, and nobody knows what was going through his mind at that time.&#8217;<br>Kaylee also claimed the harassment from Johnathan&#8217;s ex-girlfriend wasn&#8217;t a one-off. Sydney had threatened them both in the hours and days before this event. <br>Kaylee now wears his ashes in a locket around her neck. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">According to Spalding County Sheriff Darrell Dix, investigators managed to locate a witness who provided them with enough evidence to create a link between the victim and the suspects.<br>In a statement, Dix said: &#8216;Using that information, Investigators began their search for the suspects, located a cellphone number that was tied to one of them, and tracked it to a location in Henry County. <br>&#8216;At that point we contacted Henry County P D., and they immediately sent officers to the area. <br>&#8216;They searched until they located the vehicle at a residence, and were able to obtain a search warrant for the vehicle and the residence. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&#8216;During the search they retrieved the car that was used in the crime, along with the gun that we believe was used to shoot Gilbert.&#8217;<br>As the investigation progressed, more suspects were developed, and eventually arrested.<br>Dix continued: &#8216;It appears that there was an ongoing lovers&#8217; quarrel, and the suspects decided to go to Gilbert&#8217;s residence on Dobbins Mill and vandalize it by egging it. <br>&#8216;When Gilbert saw what they were doing to his residence, he came out of the house unarmed, to confront them.<br>&#8216;The suspects ran back to the car, and as Gilbert approached them, Sydney Maughon, a backseat passenger in the car, produced a firearm and shot him multiple times. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&#8216;The suspects then drove away leaving Gilbert dead in the middle of Dobbins Mill Road.&#8217;<br>Dix continued: &#8216;They are all culpable just as if they had pulled the trigger themselves. <br>&#8216;They went to egg a house, the victim confronted them while they were doing it, he lost his life, and they drove off and left his body in the middle of the road.<br>&#8216;Together they bought that ticket; now together they can ride that ride.&#8217; <br>In Georgia, a &#8216;malice murder&#8217; charge indicates a murderous crime with intent. Prosecutors believe that all three teenagers involved deserve to be charged with it. </p>
