<p>Four people were killed, including the shooter and seven others were wounded when a gunman opened fire inside a popular biker bar in Orange County, California, Wednesday night.<br>The gunman also died after he was shot by deputies who responded to reports of shots fired at Cook’s Corner, a Lake Forest restaurant on Santiago Canyon Road in Trabuco Canyon, <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.cbsnews.com/losangeles/news/cooks-corner-4-killed-6-hospitalized-after-shooting-at-historic-biker-bar-in-trabuco-canyon/" target="_blank">KCAL News</a> reports.<br>The mayhem began shortly after 7 p.m. as a domestic dispute between a retired sergeant from the Ventura Police Department and his estranged wife inside the bar, according to witnesses. The gunman shot his wife first and went on a rampage.</p>

<p class="has-small-font-size"><strong>Responding deputies pinned down Snowling by a silver truck, and his body remained next to the truck Wednesday night.</strong></p>



<p>The shooter <a href="https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2023-08-23/mass-shooting-cooks-corner-biker-bar-trebuco-orange-county" data-type="link" data-id="https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2023-08-23/mass-shooting-cooks-corner-biker-bar-trebuco-orange-county">identified </a>as John Snowling, a retired 30-year veteran of the Ventura County Police Department was targeting his estranged wife, a regular at the bar, according to law enforcement sources. Marie Snowling filed for divorce against John Snowling on Dec. 21 last year, according to Ventura County Superior Court records.<br>Nine more people, including the cook, were shot as well, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the station. Three of his victims died at the scene.</p>

<p>The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said it is working to confirm whether the gunman was in fact a retired law enforcement officer. <br>According to law enforcement sources Snownling&#8217;s target, his estranged wife, survived being shot and is hospitalized. However, four people including the gunman were declared dead at the scene, the office and KCAL said. <br>Six people, including five with gunshot wounds, were hospitalized, authorities said. Two of the victims were critically injured, while the other four were listed in stable condition. </p>

<p>Deputies shot the gunman outside the bar as he was heading to his truck, apparently to reload, according to a witness. <br>Investigators recovered one firearm from the scene. No deputies were injured during the shooting. <br>Locals said the historic bar, which opened in 1926, was likely packed at the time of the gunfire as patrons came for its unlimited spaghetti night and a live band. Undersheriff Jeff Hallock described the watering hole as “a beloved part” of the community. </p>

<p>Snowling began his career with the Ventura Police Department in 1984 and retired as a sergeant in February 2014. <br><a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.cbsnews.com/losangeles/news/cooks-corner-witnesses-recount-volley-of-gunfire-at-historic-biker-bar/" target="_blank">According to witnesses</a>, the incident started as a domestic dispute between the him and his wife. He was targeting his ex-wife, who was one of the victims shot and killed, started in the picnic area. Initially, victims heard about five or six shots before a brief pause. Shortly after, the shooting continued with an increased volley of fire. <br>Six people were treated at Providence Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, at least five with gunshot wounds. Two people were listed as critical, others are in stable condition.</p>
