<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A father suspected of killing his wife and two young children in a murder-suicide in Manhattan had recently told friends of his joy at the birth of his second son.<br>In the latest chapter of familicide plaguing the country, New York father Edison Lopez, 41, is believed to have stabbed his wife, Alexandra Witek, 40, and their two sons, Calvin, one, and Lucien, three, to death before turning a knife on himself.<br>Neighbors of their Upper West Side apartment, where Lopez was employed as the superintendent, said Lopez was known in the area as a nice guy and a family man who was often seen taking his kids to Central Park a few blocks away.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Lopez, Witek, and their sons were found in their home on West 86th Street near Riverside Drive around 3 p.m. when Lopez’s father called Witek’s younger brother after he could to reach the family since Sunday.<br>The brother-in-law, who is the superintendent of a nearby building, alerted authorities after he and Lopez Sr drilled out the lock of the apartment and saw blood inside. The door had been locked from the inside.<br>First responders initially discovered the two children in the living room with several stab wounds and two knives nearby, sources said. Their mother’s body was found in the hallway with a deep cut to her neck, while Lopez who also had a slit throat was found lying on a bed in a bedroom, a knife next to him. <br>The family of four were all pronounced dead at the scene.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Trying to understand triggers that set off a family man described by neighbors as a &#8216;doting dad&#8217;, so badly that according to a report by the <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://nypost.com/2023/08/29/uws-murder-suicide-family-identified-as-building-super-wife-and-sons/" target="_blank">New York Post</a>, first responders describe young bodies so badly brutalized that officers thought one was a girl. <br>The family may have been facing pressure to move out of their apartment in the weeks prior because Lopez had apparently gotten a new job in Westchester, one acquaintances said.<br>Friends claim Lopez was concerned about his job and feared that another opportunity he was pursuing had fallen through. He is said to have been agitated in recent days and told friends that managers of his building &#8216;want me out&#8217;. <br>One family friend who saw Lopez the previous week said he seemed agitated, upset and frantic speaking about his housing insecurity: “I saw him on Friday…he said he was leaving for another job and they were giving him like two weeks to get out,” the man said.</p>

They went to school together, grew up together.&#8217;<br>It is understood that the family had no emergency call history indicating any domestic issues prior to the gristly incident. </p>

They just celebrated their son&#8217;s birthday, the one-year-old a few weeks ago, they were good friends with other kids in the building.<br>‘They were always very happy seeming and everybody thought they were a great family, he had a job lined up and we were told they were going to be leaving.’</p>
