<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A Milwaukee boy, has been ordered to stand trial for allegedly shooting his mother dead because she refused to buy him a virtual reality headset on Amazon last year. He was 10 at the time of the shooting, <br>The boy has been charged with first-degree reckless homicide and is ready to stand trial as an adult, Judge Jane Carroll decided. <br>Now aged 11, the boy, whose identity is not being made public, was reviewed by two psychologists who debated on whether the boy was able to understand the nature of the crime and the charges. <br>Judge Carroll decided that the boy would stand the trial as an adult, as he did not have &#8216;major mental diagnosis&#8217; and was able to understand what&#8217;s happening around him. <br>The child is accused of shooting his mom Quiana Mann, 44, from three feet away at their home in Milwaukee on November 21, 2022. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The boy allegedly shot his mother in the face at close range while she was doing laundry &#8211; because she refused to buy him a virtual reality headset. <br>The boy is accused of shooting his 44-year-old mother from three feet away at their home in Milwaukee. The complaint notes that “The bullet entered through the victim’s right eye, traveled through the victim’s brain, and then, bullet fragment(s) exited out the back side of the victim’s head through her skull. The victim’s face had stippling on it, indicating that the gun was fired at the victim at close range.”<br>The next day he logged into his mother&#8217;s Amazon account to buy himself an Oculus VR headset, which costs from $500 to $700, before telling his grandma he was &#8216;sorry&#8217; for killing his mother. Immediately, he then asked where his Amazon package was.</p>

It is unclear which boy shot her.<br>After the shooting, he put the gun in the closet and told his older sister Brianna Moore, 26, that his mother, who worked in behavioral health, was dead. Moore then called 911. <br>The boy&#8217;s aunt and sister said he never cried or showed remorse and had also physically attacked his seven-year-old cousin the same day.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When he was four, the boy allegedly swung the family&#8217;s puppy around by its tail, the complaint says. Six months ago, the family told police, the boy filled a balloon with a flammable liquid and set it on fire, causing an explosion that burned furniture and the carpet. <br>When asked why he did it, the boy said &#8216;two sisters told him to do it.&#8217; <br>The boy told his family he hears five imaginary people talking to him, who he said are two sisters, an old woman, and two &#8216;mean&#8217; men. <br>Brianna also said in the complaint that her brother has had &#8216;rage issues&#8217; all his life and becomes &#8216;very angry and acts out.&#8217; <br>Mann also set up cameras around her home, but the cameras had been unplugged during the shooting, according to <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.wisn.com/article/wisconsin-boy-charged-shooting-killing-mom-vr-headset/42110537#" target="_blank">WISN</a>. It is unclear who disabled the cameras.<br>The case likely will bring national scrutiny to bear on Wisconsin laws that treat children and teens accused of serious crimes, potentially as adults. <br>The state is one of only three that require all 17-year-old defendants be charged as adults. <br>Wisconsin law also requires children as young as 10 to be charged as adults for certain serious crimes, like first-degree intentional or reckless homicide.</p>
