<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A male nanny who worked for families across Southern California was convicted Tuesday of sexually assaulting 16 young boys in his care and showing another boy child pornography, prosecutors said.<br>Matthew Antonio Zakrzewski was arrested in May 2019, after a couple reported to the Laguna Beach police department that the child minder touched their son inappropriately.<br>More alleged victims were identified, and Zakrzewski was ultimately charged with 34 felonies, including lewd and lascivious acts with a minor. The child crime spree that began in 2014 until his arrest.<br>The charges against Zakrzewski included: 27 felony counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under the age of 14, one felony count of oral copulation of a child under the age of 10, one felony count of possession of child pornography, one count of using a minor for sex acts, two felony counts of distributing pornography to a minor for the purpose of engaging in sexual conduct and one felony count of an attempted lewd or lascivious act with a minor under the age of 14. <br>He faces up to 690 years in prison following his conviction on October 3. Sentencing was scheduled for Nov. 17.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The jury was sent to deliberate on Tuesday morning and reached their verdict before lunch. As a result of his conviction, he could now face 690 years in prison.<br> Accused of molesting victims ranging from 2 to 12 years old, an Orange County jury jury convicted Zakrzewski on all 34 counts on Tuesday October 3.<br>&#8216;These young boys were forced to endure unimaginable terror as a result of the ultimate betrayal by a babysitter,&#8217; said District Attorney Todd Spitzer said in a statement.<br>Deputy District Attorney Juliet Oliver said that Zakrewski had actually videotaped much of the evidence against himself.<br>Zakrzewski, of Costa Mesa, had billed himself on his website as a &#8216;manny,&#8217; who not only watched over children but provided a fun &#8216;buddy&#8217; experience.<br>The couple who initially raised an issue about Zakrzewski hired him through one of his many babysitting websites.</p>

<p class="has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph"><strong>On his since taken down website the now convicted pedophile describes himself as a &#8216;manny&#8217; with over six years of experience working with kids &#8211; including overnight and travel care</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Investigators with the Laguna Beach police Department&#8217;s Major Crimes &; Intelligence Unit soon learned of a seven-year-old alleged victim from Los Angeles. They quickly learned of 10 more alleged victims throughout Southern California.<br>Zakrzewski was one of the creators of &#8216;My Sitter/Buddy&#8217; a website dedicated to &#8216;connecting Orange County based children with quality, pre-screened sitters &#8211; any day &; any time of the week.&#8217;<br>He called himself &#8216;Matthew The Manny&#8217; on social media. His profile he discovered &#8216;at a very early age&#8217; the &#8216;joy it was to work with children and be a positive impact in their lives.&#8217;<br>&#8216;It was actually sickening to me and the rest of the detectives we put all of our focus into this investigation,&#8217; Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Jim Cota said, back in 2019.<br>On his website, which has since been taken down, he says he has more than six years of experience in childcare, looking after kids between three months and 14 years old.<br>He also offered overnight and travel care.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&#8216;At a very early age, [8th grade], I discovered what a joy it was to work with children and be a positive impact in their lives through the &#8220;Buddy Program&#8221; at my middle school.&#8217;<br>&#8216;Now, I’m a career manny and my 6+ years childcare experience spans from ages 3 months to 14, including special needs… I think the reason I connect easily with kids is because I am not just there to supervise, I participate,&#8217; he wrote on his website.<br>On the site he&#8217;s pictured shirtless with young boys in a pool and smiling in a photo shoot.<br>He also created the babysitting service website Sitter Buddy.<br>Zakrzewski was born and raised in Southern California and graduated from California State University-Long Beach in 2012 with a degree in communication studies, according to his LinkedIn, but worked as a babysitter for families across the Laguna Beach region.<br></p>
