A male nanny who worked for families across Southern California was convicted Tuesday of sexually assaulting 16 young boys in his care and showing another boy child pornography, prosecutors said.
Matthew Antonio Zakrzewski was arrested in May 2019, after a couple reported to the Laguna Beach police department that the child minder touched their son inappropriately.
More alleged victims were identified, and Zakrzewski was ultimately charged with 34 felonies, including lewd and lascivious acts with a minor. The child crime spree that began in 2014 until his arrest.
The charges against Zakrzewski included: 27 felony counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under the age of 14, one felony count of oral copulation of a child under the age of 10, one felony count of possession of child pornography, one count of using a minor for sex acts, two felony counts of distributing pornography to a minor for the purpose of engaging in sexual conduct and one felony count of an attempted lewd or lascivious act with a minor under the age of 14.
He faces up to 690 years in prison following his conviction on October 3. Sentencing was scheduled for Nov. 17.

The jury was sent to deliberate on Tuesday morning and reached their verdict before lunch. As a result of his conviction, he could now face 690 years in prison.
Accused of molesting victims ranging from 2 to 12 years old, an Orange County jury jury convicted Zakrzewski on all 34 counts on Tuesday October 3.
‘These young boys were forced to endure unimaginable terror as a result of the ultimate betrayal by a babysitter,’ said District Attorney Todd Spitzer said in a statement.
Deputy District Attorney Juliet Oliver said that Zakrewski had actually videotaped much of the evidence against himself.
Zakrzewski, of Costa Mesa, had billed himself on his website as a ‘manny,’ who not only watched over children but provided a fun ‘buddy’ experience.
The couple who initially raised an issue about Zakrzewski hired him through one of his many babysitting websites.

Investigators with the Laguna Beach police Department’s Major Crimes & Intelligence Unit soon learned of a seven-year-old alleged victim from Los Angeles. They quickly learned of 10 more alleged victims throughout Southern California.
Zakrzewski was one of the creators of ‘My Sitter/Buddy’ a website dedicated to ‘connecting Orange County based children with quality, pre-screened sitters – any day & any time of the week.’
He called himself ‘Matthew The Manny’ on social media. His profile he discovered ‘at a very early age’ the ‘joy it was to work with children and be a positive impact in their lives.’
‘It was actually sickening to me and the rest of the detectives we put all of our focus into this investigation,’ Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Jim Cota said, back in 2019.
On his website, which has since been taken down, he says he has more than six years of experience in childcare, looking after kids between three months and 14 years old.
He also offered overnight and travel care.

‘At a very early age, [8th grade], I discovered what a joy it was to work with children and be a positive impact in their lives through the “Buddy Program” at my middle school.’
‘Now, I’m a career manny and my 6+ years childcare experience spans from ages 3 months to 14, including special needs… I think the reason I connect easily with kids is because I am not just there to supervise, I participate,’ he wrote on his website.
On the site he’s pictured shirtless with young boys in a pool and smiling in a photo shoot.
He also created the babysitting service website Sitter Buddy.
Zakrzewski was born and raised in Southern California and graduated from California State University-Long Beach in 2012 with a degree in communication studies, according to his LinkedIn, but worked as a babysitter for families across the Laguna Beach region.
