<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A teenage girl who ran away with her older boyfriend will face charges as an adult for aggravated murder for the gruesome murder of her beau&#8217;s mother, after he failed to head her an ultimatum to kill his mom or lose their relationship. <br>Kaitlyn Coones, 17, from Cleveland, Ohio, who in a relationship with Jonathan Jones went outside picked a rock allegedly crept up behind his mother Nicole Jones in the kitchen, before bludgeoning the 53-year-old homeowner with the rock and strangled her, days after Coones left her foster home to move in with her boyfriend.<br>Coones was said to have given Jones, 33, who had previously been convicted over his relationship with underage Kaitlyn Coones, five hours to kill his mom, who disapproved of their illegal relationship. <br>Investigators say Jones picked up his girlfriend at a restaurant and brought her back to the home he lived in with his mom.<br>“She went outside retrieved a rock and when Nicole Jones was standing in front of the refrigerator in the kitchen, unaware of Kaitlyn’s presence bludgeoned Nicole Jones a number of times and strangled her,” said Lucas County Prosecutor Andy Lastra.<br>The lovers threw the body in a dumpster at an apartment complex, that was later taken to a landfill. Police believe they may never find the body.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The pair fled across the border to Mexico in April, sparking an urgent manhunt by the US Marshals. <br>They were tracked into Mexico before finally being found in Ahumada, Chihuahua, nearly a month later in May, where they were both taken into custody.<br>Jonathan Jones had previously been convicted of having an inappropriate relationship with Coones, so he was wearing a GPS monitor that helped police to create a timeline in the murder case.<br>Coones is charged with aggravated murder, murder, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse. She will be tried as an adult.<br>Fresh details about the murder emerged in court on Friday. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Prosecutors say Coones became so frustrated with Jones&#8217; inaction she carried out the cold blooded murder.<br>&#8216;She went outside retrieved a rock and when Nicole Jones was standing in front of the refrigerator in the kitchen, unaware of Kaitlyn&#8217;s presence bludgeoned Nicole Jones a number of times and strangled her,&#8217; said Lucas County Prosecutor Andy Lastra.<br>Jones was allegedly sitting in the living room at the time while the brutal act was carried out.<br>The pair headed to a couple of stores in Jones&#8217; car where they purchased tarp and trash bags in order to wrap the body and clean up the bloody scene in the kitchen.<br>Nicole&#8217;s body was placed in Jones&#8217; car which was driven to a nearby apartment complex and tossed into a dumpster that was ultimately taken to landfill. Police say it is unlikely Nicole&#8217;s body will ever be found.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The two suspects immediately fled across the border to Mexico, where they were eventually arrested after a month on the run. <br>In court on Friday, prosecutors said Canton Police had contacted Sylvania Township Police in May in order to check in on the welfare of Nicole Jones. It came after they received word from a foster home where Coones had been living the teen had texted a nurse saying she had killed two people and was on the run.<br>They told police a 17-year-old foster child in the custody of Stark County Children Services who was living at a group home was missing. <br>They said the teen, Coones, allegedly sent a text message to a group home nurse to say that she was on the run after killing two people.<br>In an interview with the FBI, Coones provided detailed statements and admitted to the killing of Nicole Jones. Details she supplied investigators regarding where the body had been dumped matched GPS information that was tracked to Jonathan Jones phone and watch. <br>Coones attorney, Ann Baronas, said that the teenage was a victim of Jonathan Jones who was not supposed to have had any contact with her.</p>
