<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Police say a man went on a stabbing rampage in a Queens home Sunday morning, killing four relatives, including two kids, before attacking two responding police officers. The suspect was then shot and killed by one of the officers.<br>The Courtney Gordon, 38, who family members said became increasingly unstable in recent times, after he stopped taking his mental health medications, used a steak knife to butcher four of his relatives — including an 11-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy.<br>At about 5 a.m., officers received a 911 call about an assault in progress at a home on Beach 22nd Street in Far Rockaway: &#8220;A young female caller stated that her cousin is killing her family members,&#8221; NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey said at a news conference Monday.<br>Members of Gordon&#8217;s family are speaking out about what may have led the man to snap, the rampaging man having been shot and killed by police after his deadly stabbing spree in Queens early Sunday, <a href="https://abc7ny.com/far-rockaway-queens-stabbing-officer-nypd/14136296/" data-type="link" data-id="https://abc7ny.com/far-rockaway-queens-stabbing-officer-nypd/14136296/">ABC reports</a>.<br>Gordon attacked seven people on Sunday morning. <br>Four of his relatives died in the stabbing frenzy. The youngest was an 11-year-old girl who officers found lying outside the home, as well as a boy, 12, a 30-year-old man and a 44-yearold woman.<br>Gordon had set the home ablaze after his rampage, and the last three bodies were only discovered after firefighters put out the flames. <br>Meanwhile Gordon&#8217;s 61-year-old aunt, Christine Watson, who had taken him into her home as he was on the verge of homelessness, remains hospitalized in critical condition, having survived the attack.<br>The two responding officers Gordon slashed were later released from the hospital Sunday night.<br>His family members in the Bronx say they tried to get him help a few months ago but he refused. <p class="wp-block-paragraph">When responding NYPD officers arrived on the scene on Sunday morning and encountered Gordon who was leaving the driveway with luggage, the encounter ended with the suspect injuring two cops before one of the officers shot and killed him.<br>Police found the young girl lying on the ground outside the home. Gordon also allegedly set fire to a couch in the living room. After firefighters put that out, officers found three others dead inside, including a 12-year-old boy, the others were an adult male and female.<br>The suspect&#8217;s cousin who has known him all his life, said he never imagined it would come to this, although the signs were there.<br>&#8220;He was he like, he&#8217;s just very defensive towards everybody and verbally, you can see that the clues of what he was, what he did, you just seeing it, like he would yell very loud, top of his voice, so it like kind of would bring everybody into this, like, kind of let me not talk to him because I don&#8217;t know if he&#8217;s going to know what he&#8217;s about,&#8221; the suspect&#8217;s cousin Sean McCoy said.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Gordon has a prior arrest for strangulation in a domestic incident.<br>The suspect&#8217;s cousin who has known him all his life, said he never imagined it would come to this, although the signs were there.<br>&#8220;He was he like, he&#8217;s just very defensive towards everybody and verbally, you can see that the clues of what he was, what he did, you just seeing it, like he would yell very loud, top of his voice, so it like kind of would bring everybody into this, like, kind of let me not talk to him because I don&#8217;t know if he&#8217;s going to know what he&#8217;s about,&#8221; the suspect&#8217;s cousin Sean McCoy said. <br>Describing the incident during a press conference, Police Chief Maddrey said the officers on arrival tried to speak to the suspect, but in “about 10 seconds” he pulled out a kitchen steak knife and stabbed one officer in the neck and another in the head.<br>One of them, a 28-year NYPD veteran, then shot and killed the suspect.<br></p>
