<p>An Italian veterinarian who went to his ex-girlfriend&#8217;s flat with flowers and a card to win her back before stabbing her to death when she rejected him has been jailed for life.<br>Convicted for murder, Dr Alberto Fioletti, 31, who the judge described as a &#8216;significant danger to women&#8217; has been handed a life sentence, to serve a minimum of 15 years after he knifed his ex-girlfriend Stephanie Hodgkinson, 34, to death at her seaside home in Bournemouth, UK. <br>Fioletti who was arrested at the crime scene and charged in the killing of the English veterinary nurse, admitted to a lesser charge of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility, but he denied murder.<br>Fioletti who no longer lived in the love nest, drove to launch the &#8216;senseless attack&#8217; after his ex-girlfriend told him they had no future together. After attacking her, he then slashed his own stomach before calling the emergency help line to report his crime. <br>First responders arrived at the apartment in Alum Chine, Bournemouth, Dorset, on May 12, 2023 to find Hodgkinson on the floor next to the breakfast bar in her kitchen.<br>The incident occurred a week after the suspect threatened to kill his ex.</p>

<p class="has-small-font-size"><strong>34-yearold British veterinary nurse, Stephanie Hodgkinson, 34, [photo], was stabbed six times in the chest and once in the back with a kitchen knife in her home on May 12, 2023. Her ex-boyfriend Alberto Fioletti has been charged with murder</strong></p>



<p>According to the police report Hodgkinson&#8217;s injuries were &#8216;non-survivable&#8217;. She&#8217;d suffered severe injuries to her heart, lungs and great vessels, causing catastrophic bleeding.<br>Fioletti was arrested for murder and taken to hospital for treatment of his wounds.<br>Following a three-week trial at Bournemouth Crown Court in December a jury found him guilty. Fioletti, of Fordingbridge, Hampshire, was sentenced Tuesday at Bournemouth Crown Court for the killing.<br>A Dorset Police spokesman said the defendant and the victim had arranged to meet that day to discuss their relationship which Ms Hodgkinson had decided to end. Officers were dispatched after Fioletti called for an ambulance for his victim as well as for himself, as he had injured himself.<br>Responding officers: &#8216;forced entry and Stephanie was found dead inside the home critically injured with multiple life-threatening stab wounds.<br>Fioletti was still present at the home was taken into custody and transported to hospital to treat self-inflicted injuries to his stomach. He admitted to killing the officers, because he had become angry after the victim ended their seven-month relationship.<br>During the trial the court heard that after he attacked Hodgkinson, Fioletti stabbed himself in the stomach before phoning 911 and telling the operator that he had &#8216;killed his girlfriend&#8217;.<br>A post-mortem examination found that Hodgkinson died as a result of stab wounds to the chest.</p>

<p>&#8216;This was a senseless attack on an innocent young woman who was well within her rights to end a relationship she no longer wanted,&#8217; said Daniel Marsh, senior crown prosecutor with CPS Wessex.<br>&#8216;Fioletti&#8217;s inability to come to terms with this and failure to manage his own emotions culminated in the needless murder of Ms Hodgkinson,&#8217; adding that &#8216;Fioletti&#8217;s emotionally unstable personality disorder did not have a substantial impact upon his actions&#8217;.<br>The court heard how the defendant developed a narcissistic personality disorder and had slept with many women to &#8216;validate&#8217; himself as he had inferiority issues because of his &#8216;small penis&#8217;.<br>How he manipulated previous girlfriends by threatening to kill himself to gain sympathy.<br>Hodgkinson, a divorced mother-of-two, met Fioletti through a dating website and they had been in a relationship since October 2022. The pair who both employed at veterinary practices, were planning to buy a house together and had traveled to Italy to meet Fioletti&#8217;s parents.<br>Despite working in the same profession their jobs only overlapped for a month when Fioletti worked at Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists in Ringwood, Hampshire, in January this year. At the time of the murder he was working at Medivet clinic, but Stephanie had quit her vet job to study for a degree in philosophy of art.<br>Fioletti killed his ex after she told him they had no future together, then turned the knife on himself, injuring his stomach, before calling 911. He told the operator &#8216;I killed my girlfriend&#8217;. <br>Prosecutors said that when she kicked him out of her home after a heated argument on May 5, 2023, the suspect told Stephanie as he left: &#8216;I hope you&#8217;re happy with yourself. You&#8217;re gonna have a death on your hands now.&#8217;<br>After they agreed to meet to talk on May 12, Hodgkinson had told her sister she wanted to meet him in a public place to tell him she couldn&#8217;t see a future together.<br>The court heard the day before the meeting, Fioletti texted his Italian doctor saying: &#8216;If I had to definitely lose her tomorrow night, this time I will have to put an end to it once and for all.&#8217;<br>Hodgkinson had been chopping vegetables in her kitchen when Fioletti arrived at her home Bournemouth on May12. He stabbed her six times in the chest and once in the back.<br> </p>
