The former Washington state police officer who was on the run after shot his estranged wife and 17-year-old live-n girlfriend before kidnapping the one-year-old son he shared with the latter, has killed himself. State Police in Oregon Tuesday confirmed that Elias Huizar, shot himself.
Officers spotted the fugitive on the interstate and a high speed chase ensued. However, as cops closed on the murder suspect who had been described as ‘armed and dangerous, likely to commit more crimes,’ while on the run, turned the gun on himself
Huizar, 39, a former police officer who was last deployed to a school as a resource officer, murdered his ex-wife, Amber Marie Rodriguez, a 31-year-old teacher at William Wiley Elementary school on Monday.
He shot Rodriguez, outside the school around 3pm, during dismissal.
The couple’s nine-year-old son told Washington State police that he watched his father shoot his mother multiple times. Surveillance cameras also captured the shooting.

Police searching for the shooter found a second victim, Huizar’s girlfriend Angelica ‘Jelly’ Santos, dead in his home, which is on the same block as the West Richland school. First-degree murder charges were filed against him late Monday night, as well as an aggravated circumstance allegation of domestic violence and firearm enhancement.
Police across Washington and Oregon, as well as federal law enforcement, had begun a manhunt that ended around 3pm local time Monday, when police vehicles began a pursuit.
Eventually, Huizar crashed into a vehicle, spun into the median of the I-5 highway in Oregon and stopped his 2009 Toyota Corolla.
However, before police could establish contact, he’d shot himself in the head and was declared dead at the scene, Oregon State Troopers confirmed at a press conference Tuesday night. 
The one-year-old son he shared with the Santos was found safe.

The troopers began chasing ex-Yakima, Washington cop Elias Huizar when they saw him driving his Toyota Corolla [front left], southbound on Interstate 5 near Eugene, Oregon, around 3pm on Tuesday. ‘Our goal has been to bring Roman Santos home safely. Roman is safe and in the care of Oregon officials,’ An Oregon State Troopers spokesperson said at a media briefing Tuesday evening
‘He is doing well and being cared for. We are very, very thankful.’
Authorities said Huizar fled after a trooper tried to pull over his vehicle causing a pursuit at high speeds. At one point officers exchanged gunfire with the fleeing suspect. 
The pursuit ended about 25 miles when Huizar’s vehicle hit a commercial vehicle that was stopped on the interstate because of an unrelated crash.

Huizar’s vehicle spun and became immobile in the median, and when troopers tried to make contact with him, he shot himself and died at the scene, Kennedy said.

Rodriguez worked at the school, while Huizar had recently worked as a substitute teacher in the Richland School District, the district confirmed in a Facebook post Tuesday. She also worked part time as a realtor.

Police searching for Huizar found a second victim, his girlfriend 17-year-old Angelica ‘Jelly’ Santos, dead in his home, which is on the same block as the school.
Huizar, a former Yakima police officer, shared baby Roman Huizar with Santos, who was 15 years old when she was impregnated, according to police.
According to court filings earlier this year, Huizar met the Santos while working as a school resource officer in Yakima. She was 11 when they met, and 15 when he impregnated her, his ex-wife Amber Rodriguez wrote in her February petition seeking a protection order against him.
The former school cop was due in court Monday to face child rape charges after he was accused of raping his underage girlfriend and her 16-year-old friend.
The Yakima Police Department said in a Facebook post Tuesday that Huizar left the department in 2021 ‘after receiving discipline.’ It did not provide any other information.

Oregon State Troopers began chasing ex-Yakima, Washington officer Elias Huizar when they saw him driving southbound on Interstate 5 

In February, Huizar pled not guilty to rape charges. Subsequent to the pedo charges, Rodriguez had filed for a new custody arrangement involving their two children, just days before the two murders,     
Rodriguez wrote in her petition for a protection order that her divorce from Huizar became final last year, and she had not been aware that he was having a relationship with the same teen he had met as a resource officer until he was charged with rape. 

Huizar’s estranged wife Rodriguez [photo], who worked at the school where she was killed, also worked as a real estate agent. Days before she was shot Rodriguez had petitioned the court for a modification of the parenting plan the protection order she obtained in February

The ex-wife worked at the school where she was killed, according to the Washington State Police. In addition Rodriguez also worked as a real estate agent.
She said she feared for the safety of her children, and said she would be seeking a modification of their parenting plan.
Rodriguez filed for the modification last Friday, court records show. The protection order was issued in February and was to remain in effect for a year; under it, he was barred from possessing firearms.
The Richland School District said it terminated Huizar’s employment following his arrest in February. It said it had received recommendations from the Yakima School District before hiring him in 2022, and that he had passed background checks.
‘We are extremely disheartened that information about Mr. Huizar´s past was not disclosed to us through the various processes we have in place to vet RSD candidates for employment,’ the district said. 
‘It is the expectation for individuals who apply for employment with RSD to be forthcoming and truthful in their applications.’

Rodriguez wrote in her petition for a protection order that her divorce from Huizar became final last year, and she had not been aware that he was having a relationship with Angelica, the same teen he had met as a resource officer until he was charged with rape 

Huizar a former school cop was due in court accused of raping a drunk 16-year-old girl and his 17-year-old girlfriend whom he is believed to have impregnated when she was 15.
Huizar and Amber Rodriguez divorced in 2020 and share two children. Following the rape charges, Rodriguez filed to modify their custody agreement and had requested a protection order, because she believed he was a threat to her and their children.
Rodriguez claimed Huizar has been harassing her since the divorce and says he was mentally and emotionally unstable. He also owns guns, she said. 
It was unclear what the result of the case was, a hearing had been set for May 14. 
Family and friends have started Gofundme pages for both Rodriguez and Santos.

Santos was 11 when they met, and 15 when he impregnated her. Richland School District terminated his employment following his arrest in February 

Huizar served with the police department between 2014 and 2022 and was assigned to be a school resource officer at Washington Middle School in Yakima. It was not clear where he was employed after he’d left the department.
On February 3, he was arrested after his 17-year-old girlfriend reported him for the attack on her 16-year-old friend who was staying overnight at their home in West Richland.
Huizar and his underage girlfriend have a baby who was nine months old at the time of his February court appearance, according to the Tri-City Herald.
Huizar secured a protection order against his teenage girlfriend, Angelica Santos in 2019 after she told friends they were in a relationship and the friends reported it to the school principal. 
The girl denied it and claimed her account had been hacked when social media posts about the alleged relationship were revealed.
‘A criminal investigation was completed by the Attorney General’s Office and the case was unfounded,’ Huizar wrote in his petition for the protection order.
‘(She) was then expelled from school.’

On Feb 3, Huizar was arrested after his girlfriend, 17, reported him for the attack on her 16-year-old friend who was staying overnight at their home. Charged with second-degree rape, furnishing alcohol for minors, and third-degree rape over his relationship with the 17-year-old, bail was set at $200,000. He bonded out of jail same day

Yakima County Judge Gayle Harthcock approved the protection order that prevented the girl from coming within 500 feet of him or his family for a year. 
The girl claims in the court documents that Huizar contacted her in 2022 when she was 15 and they began a relationship. 
Their child was born in April last year, and the pair began living together in the West Richland home when she was 17. The age of consent law in Washington is 16 years old, she was pregnant at 15.

Huizar worked as a police officer for almost nine years, from June 2013 to February 2022. On February 3, he was arrested after his 17-year-old girlfriend reported him for the attack on her 16-year-old friend who was staying overnight at their home in West Richland 

In the most recent alleged rape, the 17-year-old girlfriend had gone to sleep in a spare room next to her 16-year-old friend who was feeling sick after all three had spent the evening drinking at the home on February 3, court documents record.
She then woke to find Huizar attacking her drunken friend before he left the room ‘like nothing had happened’, when she confronted him.
Huizar was charged with second-degree rape, furnishing alcohol for minors, and third-degree rape over his relationship with the 17-year-old mother of his youngest son.
His bail was set at $200,000 but he has since bonded out of jail with stipulations that he doesn’t contact either of the teens or consume any alcohol. The opening date of his trial was set for Monday.
