<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The 36-year-old man accused of killing a Loranger mother-of-two and one of her young daughters Wednesday in southern Louisiana, admitted to the crime Friday morning.<br>Double-murder suspect Daniel Callihan was booked in Jackson, Mississippi, on charges of capital murder and sexual battery.<br>Callihan was escorted to jail, where he spoke to reporters before being loaded into a transport van.<br>Callihan said he was sober except for taking Lexapro when he committed the crimes.<br>“I did it. I have no reason for what I did,” Callihan said. “I am diagnosed multiple personality disorder. I think it was the side effects of the Lexapro.”</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Three-year-old Erin Brunett was found dead and her 6-year-old sister was rescued from a horrific scene involving small animal cages that may be related to human trafficking, police in Mississippi said.<br>The grisly scene in Jackson, Mississippi on Thursday comes a day after the children&#8217;s mother, 35-year-old Callie Burnett, 35, was found murdered 130 miles away in her home in Loranger in southern Louisiana&#8217;s Tangipahoa Parish, after being missing for over a day.Her two small children, Jalie, 6, and Erin, 3, were reported missing.<br>The prime suspect <a href="https://www.wdsu.com/article/louisiana-mother-dead-children-missing/61096749">police said</a> at the the time was Burnett’s boyfriend Daniel Callihan.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A statewide Amber Alert was issued Thursday in Louisiana. <br>US Marshals in Mississippi arrested Daniel Callihan in Jackson, Mississippi, in connection with a homicide on Thursday. </p>

He then led officers to the body of Erin Brunett, a few yards away.<br>“Based on the crime scene, what it looks like, this may be the place where there has been some human trafficking done,” Joseph Wade of the Jackson Police Department<a href="https://www.fox8live.com/2024/06/13/one-child-found-dead-sibling-safe-suspect-arrested-mississippi-after-mother-found-murdered-tpso-says/"> </a><a href="https://www.wdsu.com/article/louisiana-mother-dead-children-missing/61096749" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">told reporters</a> at a press conference. “We see cages, small animal cages.”<br>Jalie was taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.<br>Meanwhile, investigators are working to determine cause of death for four-year-old Erin.</p>

You don’t want to see that as a father,” Wade said.<br>“A coward took this child from her family.”<br>Callihan led cops to the girls after a bystander saw him for acting suspiciously, according to authorities.<br>Callie Burnett was missing for over 24 hours before being found “brutally murdered” in the bedroom of her home in Loranger on Thursday, authorities said.<br>Her children had been reported missing by their father.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The kids were kidnapped sometime before 8 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Louisiana State Police. <br>An Amber Alert was issued that afternoon, which said a man was wanted for questioning for a domestic violence incident that resulted in Burnett’s death. <br>Making his confession on Friday Callihan said: “I would kill me. For what I did? Lethal injection is the easiest thing for me,” Callihan said. “I am not pretending to be crazy. I am certified. I have only been out of the nut house for two weeks.”<br>Tangipahoa court records show that Callihan has a long criminal history dating back 2008, Callihan has been arrested eight times in the parish alone for a range felonies including burglary, theft, aggravated battery, simple burglary and simple assault.</p>
