League City police said they suspect foul play as ‘glaring clues’ point to real cause of death, including rigor mortis that caused the unusual hand positioning – suggesting the suicide was staged
Furthermore, on the night, one of the surveillance cameras near the boat was missing, the other was manually turned to face away from the boat

Giselle Tapia-Salazar, 30, was discovered deceased hanging from a rope near a boat docked in the marina in her hometown League City, Texas on Friday, May 31.
The 30-year-old mom and her boyfriend, James Hart, lived on the boat.
Investigation into the death of the mother-of-four, who was found hanging from a dock, is reopened as a homicide after it was originally deemed a suicide.
The tragedy initially seemed like suicide maybe more sinister on more through inspection, investigators said. Authorities now believe Tapia-Salazar’s body was posthumously staged to appear like she killed herself.
Police also have identified two persons of interests in the case.

The body was discovered by her neighbor, Christian Allen, who found Tapia-Salazar half submerged in the water who pointed out that one of her arms was twisted in an unusual position.
‘Because of the position of her arm, we believe she probably passed away somewhere else,’ League City
Christian Allen said he never believed the victim took her own life, and added that foul play was probably the cause.: ‘I didn’t buy the whole suicide thing. I want them to catch them because my kids are here, and I don’t want to live near a murderer,’ Allen said.
That is a sentiment police now share. Investigators said they’re combing through nearly 2,000 surveillance video clips to gather clues.
Police Lieutenant Eric Cox told KHOU: “Her arm was found suspended up in the air, and there was nothing holding it there. So, we believe she probably passed away with her arm extended up above her head like that, and then rigor mortis had set in prior to her being placed like that”.
Police said that so far, the last image they have of Giselle alive is on her boyfriend’s boat around 1:35 a.m. the day she was found dead.

Hart told ABC13 he didn’t know his girlfriend was dead until police recovered her body that afternoon. He wants to make it clear that he didn’t hurt the woman he loved, adding that he hopes the video will lead police to whoever killed his girlfriend: “There’s so many questions and not many answers. There should be no doubt who did this. There are so many cameras in this marina. There’s no way this isn’t all on film”.
However, he said he was unable to watch what happened after she left the boat because both of his surveillance cameras inexplicably failed before her death.
‘One camera disappeared and the other was turned by hand, to face away from his boat,’ Hart said.
Police said they had responded to disturbance calls at Hart’s boat in the past. It’s something neighbors verified.
“Them two fought like crazy and they loved like crazy. Just one of those relationships … arguing one day and hand-in-hand skipping the other day,” Lt. Allen said.

Speaking with local ABC affiliate KTRK, the deceased woman’s sister, Esperanza Alegria, said she also did not believe her death was a suicide either: ‘I just want everyone to know my sister didn’t do this to herself.
‘She didn’t commit suicide. We just want justice for her. We want whoever is responsible, who did this to my sister, we want them to get charged for what they did to her.’

Nearby security cameras had been powered off or turned in a different direction during the time of the victim’s death, according to police.
Tapia-Salazar’s boyfriend, James Hart, vehemently denied being involved in his girlfriend’s death. Police said Hart was devastated upon hearing the news, and initially refused to come out of their boat to see for himself.
‘This is the worst thing that has ever happened to me,’ he said.
‘It feels like a nightmare you can’t wake up from. I didn’t have anything to do with it and I never would have. I loved Giselle more than anything in the world. We were together 24/7. I want justice for Giselle and for myself.’

Hart claims the last time he saw his girlfriend was when she left their bedroom to use the bathroom, but she never returned. League City police said they suspect foul play in her death. They have identified two persons of interests in the case

A GoFundMe has been made by Tapia Salazar’s brother, Nathan Paz, to cover funeral expenses and help raise money to support her children.
‘Giselle was the most charismatic person you could ever meet, sharing a smile and making a friend of everyone she came across,’ he wrote on the page.
‘Giselle always looked for the best in people, even when they didn’t deserve her kindness.’
