<p>A teenage country musician from North Carolina, has been expelled from her Christian high school because she has performed at bars and nightclubs &#8216;that serve alcohol&#8217;.<br>17-year-old Baily Griggs says she was kicked out of Cramerton Christian Academy in Gastonia, North Carolina, before her senior year because of her presence at places where &#8216;drugs and alcohol are present,&#8217; such as &#8216;nightclubs or bars,&#8217; the school wrote in an email informing the family she is no longer welcome in the school &#8211; without prior notice, the teen&#8217;s mom said in an interview with <a class="" href="https://www.wral.com/story/gastonia-teen-musician-banned-from-high-school-for-performing-at-bars-school-says/21518014/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">WRAL News</a>.</p>

<p>The school reportedly informed her Jennifer Griggs that her daughter Bailey was not welcome to return for her senior year via email. <br>&#8216;When you look at the handbook and the way it’s written, it says that she’s not to be gathering in places where there’s alcohol and drugs,&#8217; Jennifer Griggs told WRAL.<br>&#8216;She’s not gathering, she’s doing her job.&#8217;</p>

<p>Baily Griggs in response said attending the venues is part of her musical career, besides that she does not drink when she attends the venues as she is underage. <br>Jennifer Griggs argued that many of the school&#8217;s students post images attending concerts where there is alcohol and have not been expelled. <br>&#8216;The other kids in the schools, there’s post, many, many posts of them attending music concerts,&#8217; Jennifer said. <br>&#8216;If anyone knows, when you go to those concerts, you’re surrounded by alcohol.&#8217;<br>Moreover, Jennifer argued that many restaurants also serve alcohol. </p>

<p>Standing by their decision, Cramerton Christian Academy, insists that they do not enroll students who do not the exceptionally high standards set by the school. <br>Baily has been performing since the age of 10 and was discovered by Dolly Parton&#8217;s producer Kent Wells.<br>She had been homeschooled while enrolled at Cramerton but enrolled in the homeschool bridge program, which allowed her to participate in school sports and other activities.</p>

<p>According to the Gaston Gazette, Baily was the captain of the cheerleading team and an active member at the school&#8217;s church. <br>Baily and her mother say they are not asking the school to change their decision, but they believe the rules should apply to everyone.<br>&#8216;Yeah, rules are rules, but make sure you’re making everybody abide by those rules. Not just some people,&#8217; Baily told WRAL. <br>Baily is now looking into other homeschooling programs and plans on continuing performing as she works towards her diploma. </p>
