New details have emerged following the arrest of a second suspect as part of the investigation into last month’s murder of a 20-year-old nanny in Brazil.
The Amazonas Civil Police arrested 25-year-old Antônio de Oliveira, on Wednesday September 25, in connection to the kidnapping and murder of Geovana Martins.
Martins was killed August 19 and found the following day in a wooded area in the northeastern Brazilian city of Manaus. Authorities arrested the Nanny’s employer, 33-year-old social media star, Camila da Silva, on August 28.

Camila da Silva hired Martins to babysit her daughter a year ago. The nanny allegedly was imprisoned and forced to perform sex acts before her death, with da Silva, who cops described as a female ‘pimp’, posting TikTok videos dancing with victim.
At the time of da Silva’s arrest police said Martins may have been beaten and tortured.
Amazonas Civil Police chief Marília Campello said during a press conference that Geovana had moved out of Camila’s home on august 18, a day before her disappearance and gone to a friend’s house.
She then ignored the da Silva’s insistent phone calls to return to her residence.

A furious da Silva allegedly went to Martins’ location, where she beat and furiously dragged her out of the home, according to police.
“Camila tried to control the young woman’s life by making promises and bringing up debts, which kept her in a position of dependence.
“On the 18th, the employer went to the victim’s friend’s house and forcefully took her away.”
The police believe Camila took her to a car, where a man was waiting for them.
Deed done, da Silva later texted Martin’s friend seeking information on her whereabouts as part of an attempt to cover up her involvement with the murder, Campello said.
‘She forcibly takes Geovana from her friend’s house and on the 19th, at night, Geovana is probably already dead, she sends a message to this friend asking about Geovana,’ the Amazonas Civil Police official said.
‘It was a disappointment from start to finish, thinking that the police would not arrive because of the alibi she tried to form,’ Campello added.

Campello said that da Silva, who had been arrested in the past for drug trafficking, scared Martins by telling her she had been married to Mano Kaio, a known drug dealer in Amazonas who is wanted by authorities.
She threatened to harm Martins if she left the home, ‘She said she would call the drug traffickers to break Geovana’s leg, threatening to make it “happen,”‘ Campello said.
Investigators found that da Silva had purchased a flight to Europe and that her family, including her mother and uncles, reside in France.
Martins had obtained her passport in June and the police believe that da Silva was going to use Martins as a drug mule and also force her to have sex outside of the country.

Antônio Chelton Lopes de Oliveira, who was arrested in 2023 in connection to the theft of luxury vehicles, allegedly assisted his girlfriend da Silva in kidnapping and burying Martins’ body.
The Amazonas Civil Police launched a manhunt one more suspect involved in the kidnapping and murder. He was identified as Eduardo Gomes da Silva, the son of da Silva’s landlord. Eduardo Gomes allegedly owned the vehicle that was used to transport Martin’s body.
‘The car belonged to Eduardo and had already been sold to someone else,’ police chief Campello said. ‘However, the suspect lent the vehicle and returned it after Geovana disappeared. The car was returned clean to the new owner, who has already given a statement and the car.’

Amazonas Civil Police launched are still searching for another suspect, Eduardo Gomes da Silva,[photo], who allegedly, is involved in the kidnap and murder of Geovana Martins in Manaus, Brazil on August 19. He is still at large.

The police alleged early in the investigation that Camila da Silva used her home as a prostitution den and would often prevent Martins from leaving.
‘She was lured into a life of partying and drinking,’ Campello said in August. ‘But then Camila started forcing her to stay there. She wouldn’t let her leave, even though she wanted to, and she was sexually exploited.’
Other women were allegedly forced into performing sex work at the home, but Martins was the only one who was forced to live there.

‘This victim was practically forced to perform sexual acts. From what we found out, the house operated as a massage parlor,’ Campello said. ‘In addition to Geovana, other girls also passed through there, but the victim lived there and could not have relationships with people from outside.’
Videos posted on da Silva’s TikTok account showed her and Martins dancing together.
Martins’ mother, Maria Costa, had told Brazilian news outlet G1 she was unaware her daughter had been forced to work as a prostitute.
‘So far we don’t know anything. She had never told me anything,’ Costa said. ‘It’s painful, knowing that she was working with someone and then finding out that my daughter is dead.’
