<p class="wp-block-paragraph">New details have emerged following the arrest of a second suspect as part of the investigation into last month&#8217;s murder of a 20-year-old nanny in Brazil.<br>The Amazonas Civil Police arrested 25-year-old Antônio de Oliveira, on Wednesday September 25, in connection to the kidnapping and murder of Geovana Martins.<br>Martins was killed August 19 and found the following day in a wooded area in the northeastern Brazilian city of Manaus. Authorities arrested the Nanny&#8217;s employer, 33-year-old social media star, Camila da Silva, on August 28. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Camila da Silva hired Martins to babysit her daughter a year ago. The nanny allegedly was imprisoned and forced to perform sex acts before her death, with da Silva, who cops described as a female &#8216;pimp&#8217;, posting TikTok videos dancing with victim. <br>At the time of da Silva&#8217;s arrest police said Martins may have been beaten and tortured.<br>Amazonas Civil Police chief Marília Campello said during a press conference that Geovana had moved out of Camila’s home on august 18, a day before her disappearance and gone to a friend’s house.<br>She then ignored the da Silva&#8217;s insistent phone calls to return to her residence. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A furious da Silva allegedly went to Martins&#8217; location, where she beat and furiously dragged her out of the home, according to police. <br>“Camila tried to control the young woman’s life by making promises and bringing up debts, which kept her in a position of dependence.<br>“On the 18th, the employer went to the victim’s friend’s house and forcefully took her away.”<br>The police believe Camila took her to a car, where a man was waiting for them.<br>Deed done, da Silva later texted Martin&#8217;s friend seeking information on her whereabouts as part of an attempt to cover up her involvement with the murder, Campello said.<br>&#8216;She forcibly takes Geovana from her friend&#8217;s house and on the 19th, at night, Geovana is probably already dead, she sends a message to this friend asking about Geovana,&#8217; the Amazonas Civil Police official said.<br>&#8216;It was a disappointment from start to finish, thinking that the police would not arrive because of the alibi she tried to form,&#8217; Campello added.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Campello said that da Silva, who had been arrested in the past for drug trafficking, scared Martins by telling her she had been married to Mano Kaio, a known drug dealer in Amazonas who is wanted by authorities. <br>She threatened to harm Martins if she left the home, &#8216;She said she would call the drug traffickers to break Geovana&#8217;s leg, threatening to make it &#8220;happen,&#8221;&#8216; Campello said.<br>Investigators found that da Silva had purchased a flight to Europe and that her family, including her mother and uncles, reside in France.<br>Martins had obtained her passport in June and the police believe that da Silva was going to use Martins as a drug mule and also force her to have sex outside of the country.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Antônio Chelton Lopes de Oliveira, who was arrested in 2023 in connection to the theft of luxury vehicles, allegedly assisted his girlfriend da Silva in kidnapping and burying Martins&#8217; body.<br>The Amazonas Civil Police launched a manhunt one more suspect involved in the kidnapping and murder. He was identified as Eduardo Gomes da Silva, the son of da Silva&#8217;s landlord. Eduardo Gomes allegedly owned the vehicle that was used to transport Martin&#8217;s body. <br>&#8216;The car belonged to Eduardo and had already been sold to someone else,&#8217; police chief Campello said. &#8216;However, the suspect lent the vehicle and returned it after Geovana disappeared. The car was returned clean to the new owner, who has already given a statement and the car.&#8217;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The police alleged early in the investigation that Camila da Silva used her home as a prostitution den and would often prevent Martins from leaving.<br>&#8216;She was lured into a life of partying and drinking,&#8217; Campello said in August. &#8216;But then Camila started forcing her to stay there. She wouldn&#8217;t let her leave, even though she wanted to, and she was sexually exploited.&#8217;<br>Other women were allegedly forced into performing sex work at the home, but Martins was the only one who was forced to live there.</p>

From what we found out, the house operated as a massage parlor,&#8217; Campello said. &#8216;In addition to Geovana, other girls also passed through there, but the victim lived there and could not have relationships with people from outside.&#8217;<br>Videos posted on da Silva&#8217;s TikTok account showed her and Martins dancing together.<br>Martins&#8217; mother, Maria Costa, had told Brazilian news outlet G1 she was unaware her daughter had been forced to work as a prostitute.<br>&#8216;So far we don&#8217;t know anything. She had never told me anything,&#8217; Costa said. &#8216;It&#8217;s painful, knowing that she was working with someone and then finding out that my daughter is dead.&#8217;</p>
