<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A Stoughton woman has been arrested and charged in connection with smuggling counterfeit drugs and devices into the country, then selling and dispensing same.<br>Rebecca Fadanelli, 38, was charged by criminal complaint with one count of illegally importing merchandise contrary to law, one count of selling or dispensing a counterfeit drug, and one count of selling or dispensing a counterfeit device. Fadanelli was arrested this morning and will appear in federal court in Worcester at 1 p.m. this afternoon. <br>According to the <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-ma/pr/spa-owner-arrested-allegedly-performing-thousands-illegal-counterfeit-injections-clients">complaint</a>, posing as a nurse, Fadanelli of Stoughton, Massachusetts, administered thousands of doses of phony Botox and other fillers that had been illegally smuggled into the US.<br>She was arrested on Friday for illegally smuggling goods into the US, sale or dispensing a counterfeit drug and sale or dispensing of a counterfeit device.<br>The glamorous aesthetician, who owns two spas in South Easton and Randolph, presented herself as a nurse to her clients when she collected just under $1 million for her alleged illegal services. <br>Beginning in March 2021, Fadanelli &#8216;completed approximately 1,631 Botox appointments, totaling $522,869 in client payments, and 1,085 filler appointments, totaling $410,545 in client payments,&#8217; federal prosecutors said. </p>

The charging documents said she received nearly $1 million for her alleged illegal services</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Fadanelli was not licensed or certified when she <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-ma/media/1375791/dl">administered thousands</a> of illegal counterfeit Botox, Sculptra, and Juvederm injections which she imported from China and Brazil, prosecutors allege.<br>The spa owner is also accused of purchasing vials of Botox, which typically cost of $650, for a much lower price of $50 from Alibaba &#8211; a Chinese-owned online marketplace.<br>The accusations came after one of Fadanelli&#8217;s clients tipped off investigators following an adverse reaction which included bumps in her lips and tingling after she received a lip filler injection from Fadanelli in 2022.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The complainant, who remains anonymous, alleges she never received a copy of the prescription for the substance that was injected into her despite asking for it from the &#8216;nurse&#8217;.<br>Spurred to investigate Fadanelli&#8217;s business feds discovered an active Homeland Security Investigations of the same subject.<br>Parallel to these Customs and Border Control had seized international parcels shipped to the &#8216;nurse&#8217;, on suspicions that the packages may contain illegal prescription drugs. Furthermore, Fadanelli was caught at Boston&#8217;s Logan Airport, returning from Brazil with illegal injectables. <br>Investigators then searched the beautician&#8217;s spas where they uncovered the fake cosmetics.</p>

However, she does not know if they are FDA-approved. <br>She did not enter a plea when she appeared in court on Friday. <br>She is facing up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 if convicted on the charge of importing merchandise illegally. Fadanelli also faces up to 10 years in prison and another fine of $250,000 on the charge of knowingly selling or dispensing a counterfeit drug or device.<br></p>
