<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A fleeing husband who managed to elude FBI and interpol for a dozen years is now in custody after his capture outside the US on January 31.<br>Arnoldo Jimenez, 42, cops suspect, stabbed his 26-year-old wife, Estrella Carrera, to death on the way home from their wedding reception on May 12, 2012. ;<br>Her remains were found inside a bathtub at her Burbank, Illinois, apartment with multiple stab wounds. Reportedly, still ;wearing the same silver sequined cocktail dress she wore at her reception, hours earlier.<br>Police said her groom Arnoldo Jimenz, stabbed Carrera more than 18 times in his Maserati before he dragged her body into the apartment.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"> Carrera who shared a son with Jimenz also had a daughter from a previous marriage. The bride&#8217;s family alerted the authorities the day after the wedding after she failed to pick up her two small children.<br>Following the discovery of her body, a manhunt was launched but police quickly discovered that Jimenz had fled to Mexico with the help of his brother. ;<br>The brother was arrested for a separate, drug case and police discovered the vehicle in his garage during that raid but they hadn&#8217;t caught the suspect until the last day of January, 2024 &#8211; 1a dozen years after the crime.<br>The arrest of the fugitive murder suspect in Monterrey, Mexico, brought to an end a 12 year manhunt which saw Jimenez featuring on the ;FBI&#8217;s &#8216;Most Wanted Fugitives&#8217; list.</p>

<p class="has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Jimenez was added to the list of the FBI&#8217;s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives in 2019. His arrest in Mexico <strong>on January 31, </strong>ended the 12-year manhunt. He faces first-degree murder charges. He has also been charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Jimenez was declared wanted on an arrest warrant after being charged with first-degree murder on May 15, 2012. Days later, he was additionally charged federally with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.<br>When Jimenez was added to the FBI&#8217;s Most Wanted List in 2019 a reward of up to $100,000 was offered. It is currently unclear if anyone has received the reward. ;<br>The FBI Chicago, FBI San Antonio, the FBI&#8217;s Legal Attaché in Mexico City, and the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois collaborated to locate Jimenez. ;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Later arrested by agents of the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR), in conjunction with Interpol, Jimenez will remain in custody pending extradition proceedings.<br>In a a statement issued by the FBI&#8217;s Chicago Field Office, Douglas S. DePodesta, special agent in charge, thanked ;the Burbank Police Department, law enforcement in Mexico, and the public for their tremendous &#8216;investigative efforts and collaboration in the capture of Ten Most Wanted Fugitive Arnoldo Jimenez.&#8217;<br></p>
