<p>A New Jersey State Trooper who used to be part of the governor&#8217;s security detail, over the weekend fatally shot his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend before killing himself with the same weapon.<br>Sergeant First Class Ricardo Jorge Santos, 37, reportedly, stalked veterinarian Dr. Lauren Semanchik and her boyfriend, firefighter Tyler Webb, before killing the pair at at Semanchik&#8217;s home in the Pittstown section of Franklin Township on Friday evening.<br>On Saturday found Semanchik, 33, and Webb, 29, were found by Lauren&#8217;s father at her home. Both were killed by a semiautomatic firearm, in what appeared to be a targeted act, investigators said.<br>Dr Semanchik had been shot in the back as she tried to flee. Webb lay nearby, also mortally wounded.</p>

<p>In the aftermath of the three deaths, it has been reveled that Semanchik had tried for months to escape Santos&#8217; obsessive control, whereas multiple institutions, including law enforcement, failed to act.<br>Semanchik and Santos had only dated for three months in 2024, before she ended the relationship after a few months. ;<br>While that relationship ended after three months in September 2024, what followed, according to her family and police records, was a year-long campaign of stalking, sabotage, and harassment. ;<br>Prior to the murder Semanchik accused Santos of harassing her and controlling behavior, investigators said.<br>&#8216;He showed up at her work. That&#8217;s where the car was keyed. He put recording devices in her home, water in her gas tank. He harassed her left and right,&#8217; her sister <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/new-jersey-murder-suicide-franklin-township/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">said</a>. ;<br>When Semanchik had tried to block his calls, Santos resorted to using restricted numbers. </p>

<p>The victim&#8217;s mother Jeannine Semanchik said her daughter tried several times to get restraining orders, but none was issued.<br>&#8216;A lot of agencies failed her. She tried to get restraining orders. Nobody called her back.&#8217; ;<br>Semanchik then tried contacting her stalker&#8217;s colleagues for help, albeit with no relief. The abuse continued. ; ;<br>The final dastardly move by Santos was captured in detail on footage from a surveillance camera Semanchik had installed in her car in the face of the relentless stalking.<br>The security footage recorded on Friday, August 1, shows her car leaving her business address at Long Valley Animal Hospital, around 5:25pm, when a white 2008 Mercedes SUV, pulls out right behind her, tailing her for 30 miles to her home.</p>

<p>At 6:11pm, a figure can be seen creeping through the woods along her driveway. ;<br>At 6:45pm, Tyler Webb arrived at the home. Minutes later, neighbors heard screaming and gunshots, but when Franklin Township police responded to those 911 calls, they couldn&#8217;t locate the source and left.<br>The next day, Lauren&#8217;s father made the gruesome discovery. ;<br>His daughter and her boyfriend lay dead inside the home. Both had been shot. ;<br>The shooter was found later that day, inside the white Mercedes SUV. The deceased person in the vehicle was confirmed to be Ricardo Jorge Santos. <br>He was dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and a semiautomatic handgun was recovered from his vehicle.</p>
