<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The FBI on Thursday announced that agents investigating the murder of Charlie Kirk have recovered a high-powered rifle in a wooded area, but Wednesday&#8217;s gunman is still at large. A &#8216;high-powered bolt action rifle&#8217; was recovered in a wooded area after the murder, the FBI announced.<br>Conservative activist Charlie Kirk, 31, was shot and killed by a sniper during a campus event at at Utah Valley University in Orem. <br>The single burst of gunfire that sent thousands of panicked event attendees scampering for safety. The father of two was hit and police officers in attendance immediately rushed to his aid.<br>Kirk, the co-founder of Turning Point USA had just answered a question from an audience member about mass shootings committed by transgender people at the outdoor event when the shooting happened.<br>The Turning Point USA founder was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery, but Kirk died at from a single bullet wound in the neck. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The manhunt for Kirk&#8217;s assassin entered its second day on Thursday after the conservative firebrand was gunned down mid-speech the previous afternoon. FBI believe the recovered firearm is the same weapon used in the shooting.<br>Authorities have said several phrases relating to cultural issues were found scrawled on the recovered rifle, along with ammunition, close to where Kirk was killed. <br>Police have not disclosed exactly what the phrases were, as they ask the public for help locating the shooter. <br>Two men were briefly taken into custody after the shooting, but investigators later confirmed they were not suspects and released them.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Kirk was killed by a single gunshot fired from an elevated position as he spoke to a large crowd at an outdoor space on Wednesday. FBI said that investigators have &#8216;good video footage&#8217; of the suspect. <br>The assassin, described as a male of college age, fled to the wooded area after the shooting.<br>Investigators said the gunman managed to blend in with students on the college campus, having just arrived shortly before noon.<br>The FBI released two images of a person they are seeking indicating that they had not been able to identify him through facial recognition or other technology and needed the public’s help.<br>The grainy images show a man in a stairwell wearing a black shirt, a baseball cap and dark sunglasses. The authorities have described him as a person of interest.<br>In one of the photographs, the person appears to be walking up a stairwell. The police said earlier that they had video of a person they were seeking who had walked up a stairwell to a rooftop from where the gunshot was fired.<br>Kirk was killed by a single gunshot fired from an elevated position as he spoke to a large crowd at an outdoor space on Wednesday, the police said.<br>After making the fatal shot, authorities say he jumped from the roof of the building, before fleeing the campus into a neighborhood.<br>Feds who have reported finding palm and footwear prints on the scene, sent the alleged weapon to the lab for further analysis.<br>The F.B.I. is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the person who shot and killed the conservative activist Charlie Kirk, with more than 130 tips called in since the shooting.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Kirk was conducting a Q&;A session from a pop-up tent on campus when a gunman fired a shot from the university’s Losee Center with a long gun around 200 yards away from where he was speaking. The conservative influencer jerked back and appeared to recoil in pain and grab at his neck as the crack of a single gunshot rang out from the crowd, sending thousands of spectators into a panic, dramatic video from the scene showed.<br>In 2012, at the age of 18, he founded Turning Point USA, which developed into one of the most influential conservative political action groups in the nation. He has been featured as a guest speaker at the Republican National Convention.<br>“This is a dark day for our state, it’s a tragic day for our nation,” said Utah Gov. Spencer Cox. “I want to be very clear that this is a political assassination,” he added.<br>“I just want to remind people that we still have the death penalty in the state of Utah.”</p>

Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!” , President Donal Trump wrote, after receiving news of Kirk&#8217;s death. The president later ordered American flags nationwide to fly at half-staff until Sunday at 6 p.m.<br></p>
