<p>Addi Smith, [photo], 11, a member of the Utah Xtreme Cheer troupe and her mother who traveled to Nevada from Utah, were found dead in their Las Vegas hotel room on Sunday. Officers responded after after getting several calls for a welfare check after Addi Smith and her mother, Tawnia McGeehan, failed to show up for a cheer competition, authorities said<br>Two bodies were found inside a room in the Rio Hotel &; Casino on Sunday and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is treating the incident as a case of murder-suicide. <br>Authorities believe, the mother killed her cheerleader daughter inside their Las Vegas hotel room before turning the gun on herself.<br>The identities of the mother and daughter have not been confirmed by officials, but several news outlets linked the murder-suicide to &#8216;dance mom&#8217; Tawnia McGeehan, 38, and her daughter Addi Smith, 11, who were reported missing on February 14 after traveling to Vegas for a dance contest.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s been revealed that the suspected shooter went through an ugly custody dispute with her ex-husband starting with their divorce in 2015. <br>According to court documents McGeehan and her ex-husband, Brad Smith, spent nine years in court fighting wrangling over custody of their daughter Addi after their acrimonious split. The relationship between the co-parents had remained toxic.</p>

<p>The Utah Xtreme Cheer troupe, of which Smith was a member, shared a tribute to her.<br>A spokesman said: &#8216;With the heaviest hearts, we share the devastating news that our sweet athlete Addi has passed away.<br>&#8216;We are completely heartbroken. No words do the situation justice. She was so beyond loved, and she will always be a part of the UXC family.<br>&#8216;Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers and continue to send them love as they navigate this unimaginable loss.</p>

Its contents have not yet been made public, with police continuing to investigate.<br>Utah Fusion All-Stars, another group, also shared a tribute to Addi, saying: &#8216;We are completely heartbroken by the loss of our former athlete Addi.<br>&#8216;She was absolutely loved in our gym and it was a privilege to be a part of her life.<br>&#8216;She will always be remembered for her sweet smile and light that she brought to her teams and to our gym.<br>&#8216;We are sending love and prayers to her family, to our cheer family, and to the UXC Cheer Family at this time.&#8217;</p>
