<p class="wp-block-paragraph">At least two people have been killed after an active shooter opened fire at Fairlane Mall in Dearborn, Michigan, the day preceding the July 4th holiday. Police sources said a total of three people were shot, two fatally, following an &#8216;altercation&#8217; in the shopping mall around 2pm local time, on Friday. <br>One person died at the scene, and a second victim died after being taken to a local hospital. A third person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.<br>The victims ranged in age from their late teens to early 20s, police said.<br>Investigators believe all three victims were involved in the incident, which police said began as a dispute between two groups that escalated into gunfire.<br>Shoppers scrambled for shelter after a barrage of shots were fired, which appeared to be triggered by a fight between two men. <br>A man in a red shirt was seen in the footage brandishing what looked like a gun inside the mall. <br>Witnesses recount hearing arguing and fighting inside the mall&#8217; seconds before the gunshots rang out. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The incident prompting a large police response and the temporary closure of the shopping mall.<br>In a statement on Friday afternoon, the Dearborn Police Department said &#8216;officers are currently on the scene investigating a shooting at Fairlane Town Center.<br>&#8216;This is an active and ongoing investigation. <br>&#8216;We are asking residents and visitors to avoid the area while officers secure the scene and investigators conduct their work.&#8217;</p>
