<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As per her plea, prosecutors sought asked the court to cap Clenney&#8217;s imprisonment at six years.<br>Judge Andrea Ricker Wolfson subsequently sentenced Clenney to six years in prison, taking into consideration time served, followed by five years probation. <br>Clenney has already spent four years behind bars while awaiting trial, meaning she would serve two years of incarceration on the six year sentence.<br>Addressing the courtroom after the sentencing, Christian&#8217;s mother said: &#8216;There is simply too much pain to put on paper.<br>&#8216;Four years later there are still nights when I cannot sleep. I do not want Christian to be remembered only for how he died. <br>&#8216;Christian was my son, everyone who knew Christian can attest that he was kindhearted, compassionate, friendly and respectful.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">According to Clenney defense, she threw a knife at Christian in self-defense after fearing for her life during a domestic dispute. <br>Clenney admitted to stabbing Obumseli but claimed she did not intend to kill him, and in the footage she was seen on the floor sobbing, &#8216;baby, baby, baby, wake up.&#8217;<br>While talking to police as paramedics tried to save Obumseli, she told them: &#8216;I&#8217;m terrified of him&#8217; and &#8216;I was so scared,&#8217; the footage showed. <br>However, the medical examiner&#8217;s report stated that the autopsy on Obumseli showed his wound could not have been caused by a knife thrown from that distance.<br>Clenney alleged she was in an abusive relationship with Obumseli, and maintained that text messages and witness testimony would show she feared for her life. <br>The model, who had used the name Courtney Tailor on platforms like Instagram and OnlyFans, filed court records earlier this month asking jurors to consider the defense&#8217;s account of Clenney and Obumseli&#8217;s relationship in the case. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The legal filing showed she planned to bring a pair of domestic violence experts to the stand, as well as text messages that she says proved she was being abused. <br>Courtney Clenney claimed there were at least nine times Christian Obumseli was abusive, allegedly punching her in the face and fracturing her ribs — in the months before he was killed in April 2022.<br>One of the proposed messages showed that Clenney accused her late boyfriend of hitting her &#8216;in my face as hard as you could&#8217;. <br>In response to her remonstration, Obumseli she claimed, didn&#8217;t appear too fazed. According to her filing, Obumseli told her that he was only trying to move her hand and &#8216;really didn&#8217;t mean to,&#8217; <br>The defense had also planned to introduce witnesses to the alleged abuse along with images of Clenney showing visible injuries. <br>In previously released bodycam footage, police were seen entering Clenney and Obumseli&#8217;s Miami apartment at around 5pm on April 3, 2022. <br>Clenney was covered in blood, but when officers told her to step away from Obumseli, pleading: &#8216;I can&#8217;t let this happen&#8230; it wasn&#8217;t me.&#8217; <br>As she was handcuffed, she added: &#8216;I am covered in his blood because I was trying to save him&#8230; I need him, he was my other half.&#8217; </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In the background of the footage, Obumseli could be heard still alive, as he cried out: &#8216;I can&#8217;t feel my arm.&#8217; <br>Clenney was arrested and booked into custody, and Obumseli was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. <br>Graphic case photos have revealed she stabbed her much larger boyfriend inches above a tattoo of her name in cursive on the left side of his chest.<br>While Clenney has argued that she acted in self-defense, attorneys representing Obumseli&#8217;s family have rejected that claim and said he was the victim of domestic violence at the hands of the model. <br>While the autopsy report appeared to debunk that defense on the grounds that Obumseli&#8217;s wound could not have been caused by a knife thrown from that distance, her parents, Kim and Deborah Clenney, were previously taken into custody for breaking in and stealing Obumseli&#8217;s computer. However, the couple were later released.</p>
