<p class="has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Lauren Winans, [photo], 31, of Bardstown, Kentucky, was indicted this week by a grand jury and arrested Thursday on multiple counts of sodomy and incest against a person younger than 12 </strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The wife of a police officer has been indicted over allegations she sexually abused a young family member while in a previous relationship. <br>Lauren Winans, 31, of Bardstown, Kentucky, was indicted earlier this week by a grand jury and arrested Thursday on four charges relating to the alleged sexual abuse of her relative. <br>She has been charged with two counts of first-degree sodomy, one count of first degree incest and one count of for sexual abuse. <br>The indictment was the result of an investigation by the Kentucky State Police. The abuse in all four cited cases, allegedly was perpetrated on the same victim who is listed as a family member. <br>According to the indictment, between January and November of 2022 she &#8216;committed the offense of Sodomy in the First Degree by engaging in deviate sexual intercourse&#8217; with a person younger than 12. <br>The indictment alleges that Winans subjected a juvenile victim, (a person under 12 years of age), to illegal sexual contact and deviate sexual intercourse.<br>Count 2 specifically alleges that Winans engaged in sexual intercourse or deviate sexual intercourse with the victim, knowing the individual to be a minor relative under the age of twelve.</p>

<p class="has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Lauren is currently married to Andrew Winans [photo], an officer with the Bardstown Police Department. However, the timeline of the alleged crimes suggests she was still in a preceding relationship at the time </strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Like the previous two counts, the alleged sexual abuse is claimed to have happened over the same time period.<br>Winans is currently married to Andrew Winans, a former Deputy with the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, who now works for Bardstown Police Department.<br>However, prior to her marriage to Andrew Winans in 2024, she was in a relationship with Derrick Carrico with whom sh shares a daughter. The timeline of the suggests she was still Carrico at the time of the alleged crimes and there is no suggestion of wrongdoing on the part of either Carrico or Andrew Winans. <br>Initially held on a $250,000 cash-only bond, Lauren Winans was released on Friday morning. Her arraignment is scheduled for November 5, at the Nelson Circuit Court. <br>She faces up to 120 years in prison if convicted as charged.</p>
