The mother of a young son from Kentucky has been sentenced to 16 years in prison on charges of incest, sodomy and sexual abuse involving her young son.
The Louisville Courier-Journal reports that the Louisville resident, Kelly Ann South was handed her sentence on Tuesday after accepting a plea deal. Jefferson Circuit County Judge Olu Stevens also ordered the defendant to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.
40-year-old South was arrested in October 2015 on five counts of first-degree sexual abuse, two counts of sodomy and one count of incest after an investigation by the Louisville Metro Police Department’s Crimes Against Children’s Unit.
According to an arrest watrrant cited by the station WAVE3, the mother, then 38 years old, admitted to performing oral sex on the boy and engaging in other inappropriate activities with the child between September 2012 and September 2015.

On October 27, 2015, a grand jury indicted her for admitted sexual contact with her son while he was between the ages of four and seven.
Kelly Lyn South previously had been out on a $2,500 cash bond after her arrest in 2015.
