On the album Lemonade, released on Jay Z’s streaming service Tidal on Saturday night, there is a strong theme of adultery throughout and Beyonce makes numerous references to an unfaithful partner.
The singer alludes to husband Jay Z cheating on her – but the only clue about the identity of the other woman is the lyric: ‘He better call Becky with the good hair.’
Hours after an HBO special aired a video accompaniment to the album, Rachel Roy took to Instagram with a picture and a caption that mentioned her ‘good hair.’

‘Good hair don’t care, but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self truths, always,’ she captioned the picture, adding: ‘Live in the light #nodramaqueens.’
The post quickly attracted the attention of Beyonce fans, who left a series of vicious comments on the post, leading Roy to make her account private.
‘I think we found “Becky”!’ said one comment. Another added: ‘You messed with the wrong artist h*.’
Roy later took to Twitter, writing: ‘I respect love, marriages, families and strength. What shouldn’t be tolerated by anyone, no matter what, is bullying, of any kind.’
She is the ex-wife of music producer Damon Dash, who was Jay Z’s business partner until the pair fell out, and she has been linked to cheating rumors surrounding the rapper before.
After security footage in May 2014 captured Beyonce’s sister Solange Knowles attacking him in an elevator after the Met Ball while the Formation singer looked on, there was much speculation about what caused the brawl.
Reports suggested the fight was sparked by Roy’s close friendship with the rapper and entrepreneur.

‘Solange was defending Beyonce in the elevator because Solange finds Jay’s friendship with Rachel to be WAY too close for comfort and it makes Solange very uncomfortable,’ a source told Hollywood Life.
While at the time, Beyonce was a passive bystander in the altercation, she appears to have unleashed her wrath through her music. Throughout the album, Beyonce makes references to an unfaithful partner – although at the end, husband Jay Z appears as she sings about forgiveness.
The HBO special was split into themes – beginning with Intuition, Denial, Anger, Apathy, Emptiness – but ended with ones including Forgiveness, Hope and Redemption, suggesting the pair have overcome the troubles in their marriage.
Today, Roy took to Twitter, writing: ‘I respect love, marriages, families and strength. What shouldn’t be tolerated by anyone, no matter what, is bullying, of any kind’
Later, the couple appear together as she sings: ‘Baptize me. Now that reconciliation is possible, if we’re gonna heal, let it be glorious.’
But earlier, Beyonce is seen sitting at a piano alone, with flashback scenes of her wedding to Jay Z in 2008, and them lying in bed together.
‘My daddy warned me about men like you,’ she sings. ‘Cause every promise, don’t work out that way. Nothing seems to hurt like the smile on your face.’
She also opens a track with some evocative spoken word – alluding to the cheating.
‘So what are you gonna say at my funeral now that you’ve killed me? Here lies the body of the love of my life whose heart I broke without a gun to my head.
‘Here lies the mother of my children both living and dead. Rest in peace my true love, who I took for granted.’
She adds: ‘Her heaven will be a love without betrayal. Ashes to ashes, dust to side chicks.’
‘Are you cheating on me?’ Beyonce asks at one point, before she is seen smashing up cars with a baseball bat with references to being ‘jealous’ and ‘crazy.’

On the fourth track Sorry, Beyonce sings: ‘Middle fingers up, put them hands high. Wave it in his face, tell him, boy, bye. I ain’t thinking ‘bout you.’
She is joined by numerous black women, including Serena Williams, before dropping the biggest clue about the identity of the other woman or women with the lyric: ‘He only want me when I’m not there, he better call Becky with the good hair.’
The scene drove Beyonce fans – known as the BeyHive – wild and within minutes, #BeckyWithTheGoodHair was trending on Twitter as they feverishly speculated about the identity of ‘Becky’ (which is sometimes used as a slang term for a white woman).
