Woman in $1.5 million lawsuit, alleges Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez knowingly gave her STDs

Claims on-and-off romantic relationship with Martinez since 2012

A porn-loving Cardinals pitcher is being accused of knowingly transmitting STDs to his partner. Carlos Martinez is the subject of a $1.5 million civil suit wherein his on-again, off-again lover claims that she tested positive for STDs in the days following a December tryst.
Martinez’s attorney says “I can tell you most assuredly the allegations are 100 percent false.”
The Cardinals are aware of the case and Martinez made his scheduled start for St. Louis on Sunday, suffering his first loss of the season.
“My understanding is that he and his attorney are working on it,” general manager John Mozeliak told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The lawsuit filed in Miami seeks more than $1.5 million and accuses the pitcher of a negligent transmission of a sexual transmitted disease. It seeks actual and special damages along with mental anguish and exemplary damages. It also seeks punitive damages because of outrageous actions. His accuser is from West Palm Beach, Fla., not far from the Cardinals’ spring training home in Jupiter. According to TMZ, she told the court that Martinez “swore to God that he was not infected with any sexually transmitted disease.”
Two years ago, the Cardinals had to give the randy righthander a talking to about his Twitter account. Martinez, then 22, had a habit of favoriting pornographic images from his account, which were there for every Cardinals fan to see. The club  censured Martinez stating: “We are, like it or not, role models.”
“Regardless of your moral compass and where it points, those sorts of things that we’re talking about are not things we want our kids seeing.”
