&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;It’s not about white or black&comma;” Craig said at the conference&period; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;When you put on this uniform&comma; you can’t make statements that contradict what we stand for as a department&period;”<br &sol;>&NewLine;Chief Craig told the media that he took &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;very quick action” against Detective Weekely&comma; but insisted that the officer was still entitled to his due process&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;We have to let that run&comma;” Chief Craig said&period; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;That’s by contract and certainly out of fairness&period; but didn’t  elaborate&period; Meanwhile&comma; the Michigan National Action Network is still calling for the police officer to be fired&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;We have a nation on edge due to a racial divide and the slaughter of Black Americans by police that literally get away with murder&period; Detroit&comma; America&&num;8217&semi;s blackest and poorest city&comma; cannot afford to have a policeman on duty so filled with hate for the dominant population of Detroit&comma;”<br &sol;>&NewLine;NAN political director Sam Riddle said&colon; Joseph&comma; is a former SWAT officer in Detroit who had manslaughter charges dismissed in 2015 after shooting and killing a 7-year-old girl in a May 2010 raid&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Aiyana Stanley-Jones was shot in the head in May 2010 while she was asleep on her family’s living room couch&period; Joseph Weekley’s first trial ended without a verdict and his second ended with a hung jury&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
