The bodies of Sumarti Ningsih, 23, and Seneng Mujiasih, 29, were found in the upscale apartment belonging to British investment banker Rurik Jutting, near Hong Kong’s Wan Chai red-light district.
Nothing in his upbringing pointed to 31-year-old Rurik George Caton Jutting’s drug-fueled descent into torture, rape and murder. Few would have suspected that the young, successful banker the product of a privileged upbringing and England’s poshest schools, harbored such twisted thoughts, let alone acting on them.

As jury watched harrowing footage of Jutting torturing his victims, a coalition of foreign workers protested against the handling of his murder trial, outside the Hong Kong High Court
Rurik Jutting, a Cambridge University graduate had worked at the Hong Kong office of Bank of America Merrill Lynch in structured equity finance and trading. Just a couple of years out of Cambridge, he earned a six-figure salary, enjoyed a glamorous lifestyle and was engaged to his long-time girlfriend.
Jutting has been charged with the depraved killing of two prostitutes. He is accused of raping, slaughtering and dismembering one and stuffing her body in a suitcase, in his luxury Hong Kong apartment in 2014. He ordered food for the other victim before he killed her
The alleged pervert recorded his increasingly violent acts during hours of numbing footage depicting torture and pure evil.
Jurors saw footage of Jutting torturing Sumarti Ningsih for three days, before he slit her throat and stuffed her body in a suitcase
Jutting it is reported, grew up in an upper middle class home in the upmarket London suburb of Surrey. He attended the Wallop Preparatory School before moving on to a prestigious boarding school in Worcestershire and then on to $42,000-per-year Winchester College.
After graduation from Cambridge University’s in 2008, he joined Barclays bank’s structured capital markets team. Five years later, he would joined America-Merrill Lynch that came with a move to Hong Kong.
Two bad breakups later, including one with his fiancee, Jutting was regularly seen with prostitutes in his Wan Chai neighborhood, it was not unusual for him spend as much $2,000 on alcohol and food per night.
Second victim: Seneng Mujiasih was found in the blood spalttered apartment stabbed in the throat and buttock
Former classmates at Cambridge described Jutting as being “awkward” around women but was nevertheless hard-working and intelligent. Another former friend who invoked comparison to the main character in the novel “American Psycho”, described him as arrogant. The fictional protagonist is a wealthy, unstable investment banker who leads a double life as a serial killer.
“No one can believe that Rurik seems to have turned into the real ‘American Psycho’”.
“He was taking cocaine with prostitutes in his luxury apartment, almost like he was trying to live up to an overtly masculine, heterosexual stereotype, just like Bateman,” the friend said. “Maybe he was living a lie with the prostitutes and something just snapped when he was with them.”

During the trial horrified jurors viewed disturbing iPhone footage of his attacks on the victim who was later found dead in a suitcase in his Hong Kong flat. Jurors listened as he described how he tortured Sumarti for 72 hours with a series of horrific and gruesome acts.
The video opened with bare chested Jutting identifying himself and then adding: ”About five minutes ago I just killed, murdered this woman here,” as the camera panned to her bloodied body.
Jutting calmly mutters ”S***” as he then shows his shaking hand to the camera and says: ”Jesus, look at my hand.”

The disturbing footage, was shown on individual screens to jurors
“Do you want me to hit you? If you say yes, I hit you once. If you say no I hit you twice,” Jutting was heard to say.
“If you scream I will punch you, you understand?”
Jutting repeatedly asked Ningsih if she loved him.
The only sound from Ningsih in the video was a muted squeal.
The alleged killer recorded himself smugly said: “I’ve never seen anyone that scared. She voluntarily ate faeces out of the toilet then just smiled at me afterwards.”
Later he said: “I urinated into her mouth, she threw up and I made her eat her own vomit. I made her take drugs.”
In another shocking confession he also revealed how he “beat her p***y so badly she bled from her labia”.

Jutting, then recorded a series of rambling clips on his iPhone after he had killed her.
As the clips were played he occasionally took notes, sighed and closed his eyes.
Footage showed her corpse face down close to the toilet bowl – which he had made her lick before slicking her throat.
Clearly obsessed with drug use, another clip showed him ranting about drug pushers as he said: ”Is it worse to deal cocaine or invent a tax avoidance scheme of $5million in the Philippines which believe me is a lot of money.”
When his fiancee left him, Jutting reverted to a childhood habit of seeking solace in the arms of sex workers. He was regularly seen with prostitutes in his Wan Chai neighborhood
Jutting described how he had spent more than $1 million (£817,000) in two years mostly on ”drugs and prostitutes,” and how he had been using prostitutes since he was 23 and living back in London.
He adds: ”It’s emotionally satisfying talking to a camera. Maybe if I had more conversations like this I wouldn’t have ended up with a dead woman in my shower.”
A later clip, he described how much he enjoyed dominating and tottering his first victim.
He said: “I enjoyed it. I loved it. It’s not the pain, it’s the power. That’s not an uncommon fantasy among men and women.
Jutting slit Seneng Mujiasih’s throat in his apartment
Five days after killing Sumarti, Jutting killed a second Indonesian sex worker, Seneng Mujiasih, 29, who also went by the name Jesse Lorena. Both bodies were found in the apartment of his luxury flat close to Hong Kong’s seedy Wan Chai district in November 2014.
Jutting pled not guilty to two counts of murder but admitted to manslaughter due to diminished responsibility. He also entered a guilty plea to preventing the lawful burial of Sumarti’s body.
Jutting earned $433,850 (£350,000) annually in his job with Bank of America-Merrill Lynch and boasted of his huge salary in the clips but revealed he had quit just before the killings.
The trial continues.
