<p>The weekend DWI arrest in Houston for basketball all-Star Steve Francis, has triggered authorities in Florida to issue an arrest warrant for the former ;apparently wayward NBA star, on a burglary charge.<br />
The former University of Maryland basketball star Steve Francis, who played for both the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets, was arrested for DWI in Houston on Nov. 19, 2016.<br />
According to <a href="http://abc13.com/sports/ex-rockets-star-out-on-bond/1619996/" target="_blank">KTRK-TV</a>, Francis, 39, who played 10 seasons in the NBA, mostly for the Rockets before moving on to the Knicks for two seasons who was back in police custody after Saturday’s DWI charge, facing extradition to Manatee County, Fla.<br />
He allegedly stole $7,252 in jewelry, cash and other items outside a restaurant there on June 15.<br />
Francis, allegedly asked a bartender working at the Bradenton restaurant for a flashlight before breaking into a BMW parked outside, according to a <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2016/11/21/steve-francis-burglary-wanted/" target="_blank"> TMZ</a> report.</p>

<p>The report alleges that Francis took a wallet, a gold wedding ring, a gold diamond band, a makeup pouch, earrings and $100 in cash.<br />
Officials said that Francis came to the police station two days later with a clear plastic bag of the goods and said: “I just robbed somebody. Take me to jail. I’m turning myself in.” Francis, however, left the station without being charged with a crime.</p>

<p>In all, it appears that there are three charges pending against the former golden boy of Maryland basketball, two of them are in Harris County, Texas where Francis was stopped for driving under the influence, and he allegedly, said some inappropriate things to the officers involved in that process.<br />
His legal woes came to light after his arrest in Texas led to the discovery of an open warrant out for him for burglary charges in Florida.<br />
It has been reported that his attorneys are dealing with that burglary charge.<br />
Francis did not appear before the judge, but his attorney did get the former Rockets player out on bond to deal with that felony charge.</p>

<p>Francis was named the NBA’s co-Rookie of the Year in 2000 before making three straight All-Star teams (2002-2004). After playing for the Magic and Knicks, he returned to Houston in 2007 for a brief 10-game stint before calling it quits on his NBA career.<br />
Francis reportedly is posting bond for his DWI charges, then he will go on to Florida, to appear for hearings on the burglary charges before going back to Texas to face the charges against him there. He has been given 30 days to surrender to Florida police.</p>
