 The emergency alert system for Ohio State University sent out an alert Monday morning about an active shooter on campus, and officials later reported at least eight injuries in the incident, one of them in critical condition.
University officials issued an emergency alert advising people to shelter in place and avoid a certain area of campus: “Run, hide, fight” is standard protocol for active shooter situations. It means: Run, evacuate if possible; Hide, get silently out of view; or Fight, as a last resort, take action to disrupt or incapacitate the shooter if your life is in imminent danger.

The FBI said it has deployed tactical resources to assist local law enforcement partners.
Several locals report a large police presence and a lockdown all around campus. It is not clear if there is just one shooter.

Reports have it that between eight and nine people have been hospitalized after the shooting, with oall but one victim in stable condition. The Columbus Fire Division said it took eight people to the hospital Monday morning.
One suspect is reported dead after the incident at Ohio State University according to the Columbus Department of Public Safety after a search on for possible other suspects.
Authorities identified the suspect’s name is Abdul Razaq Ali Artan, an 18-year-old student at the university.  Ali Artan, a Somali refugee who left his homeland with his family in 2007, lived in Pakistan, before emigrating to the United States two years ago as a legal permanent resident, officials said.
He attended Columbus State Community College for two years, graduating cum laude with an associates degree before moving onto Ohio State to continue his studies. He told a campus publication, the Lantern, that on his first day at OSU, he was “kind of scared” to pray in public.
“If people look at me, a Muslim praying, I don’t know what they’re going to think, what’s going to happen”.
