Robert Davidson pled guilty to sex abuse and child abuse, resulting in the 2015 death of his 10-month-old daughter in Maryland, on Monday
Robert Davidson, a Rockville, Maryland man had sexually abused his 10-week-old daughter and then killed her. The 24-year-old father this week has pled guilty to sexually abusing and killing his 10-week-old baby daughter last year.
Robert Davidson appeared in court on Monday to answer the charges of sex abuse of a minor and first-degree child abuse resulting in death in connection to the June 2015 slaying of Aleah Thompson. The court hearing, Monday revealed the extent of depravity involved and how much the little girl had suffered in her short life.
The autopsy of 2-month-old Aleah Thompson showed a broken collarbone and 34 rib fractures in “various states of healing,” Assistant State’s Attorney Mary Herdman said in court. The injuries occurred during at least three “severely traumatic events” and appeared to be the result of Aleah’s chest being constricted, Herdman said.
Davidson entered guilty pleas for to sex abuse of a minor and first-degree child abuse resulting in death. In exchange prosecutors dropped an additional charge of second-degree murder.
Davidson is scheduled to be sentenced in February. He faces up to 50 years in prison.

Earlier in the proceedings Ms Herdman told the court that on June 23, 2015, Davidson called police and medics to an apartment where he lived with the baby’s mother, Lorena Thompson. She was at work at the time, but police and medics arrived to find Davidson trying to perform CPR on the child.
Davidson initially told detectives he’d been in the living room playing video games when he heard labored breathing coming from a bedroom. He went to check on Aleah, he had said, and found her limp and unresponsive.
Aleah was airlifted to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington DC. She died due to her injuries three days later.
An autopsy found the child died of “multiple blunt force injuries.” Doctors found injuries to her head, eyes and spine, Herdman said. A forensic anthropologist examined Aleah’s bones, and determined she had suffered severe trauma during the first two weeks of her life, several weeks after that, and just before her death, Herdman said
Aleah’s parents were arrested in late August 2015, nearly two months after the baby’s death.
Davidson also told police that he had dropped his daughter several times and that she had rolled off a couch. He later admitted to police that he had shaken Aleah.
The exact nature of the sexual abuse allegations remains disputed. In court Monday, Davidson’s attorney, Ronald Gottlieb, said that his client had told detectives he was trying to remove mucus and other substances.
Mother -of-two Lorena Thompson, 22 , pled guilty to neglect of a minor in July and was sentenced to five years of probation, in the death of her two month old daughter, Aleah
An autopsy showed that the 10-week-old Aleah had suffered a broken collarbone and had 34 rib fractures in various stages of healing
Baby Aleah’s mother also was charged in the case. Prosecutors said that 22-year-old Lorena Thompson had seen bruises on her daughter’s body and suspected that her boyfriend had been hurting Aleah but failed to protect the girl or alert the authorities. When Lorena Thompson was questioned by investigators, she admitted that she had seen bruises on Aleah on more than one occasion, and that those injuries occurred while the baby was in her boyfriend’s care, but at no time did the mother seek medical attention for the new-born.
She also did not take the baby to her two-month medical checkup.
Thompson, who is a chef by trade, also has a 5-year-old son from a previous relationship.
Police indicted Lorena Thompson for wilful neglect. She had seen bruises on her baby’s body and suspected Davidson of harming Aleah , yet did nothing to stop him or have him removed from the home
