<article id="ra-body">An Alabama businessman has been charged with murder in the death of Constance Woolweaver, who was discovered when her 13-year-old son returned from school to their Highland Lakes home in Alabama, Wednesday.<br />
Investigators say that Adam Michael Burns , who owns landscaping and fishing lure companies, was a friend and business partner of the 37-year-old victim, a mother of two found dead in a wealthy suburb.</p>

<p>A Linkedin page for Woolweaver, a longtime banker, lists herself as working for his fishing company Bass Attacker.<br />
Speaking with <a href="http://www.al.com/news/birmingham/index.ssf/2016/12/suspected_killer_of_highland_l.html" target="_blank">AL.com</a>, Shelby County Sheriff John Samaniego said: Weaver was shot with a pistol multiple times, including once in the head, during a “crime of passion.”<br />
A motive hasn&#8217;t been firmly established, but the victim and the suspect were longtime friends and business partners, and a dispute over money may have been a factor leading to the killing. Sheriff Samaniego said he couldn&#8217;t confirm that Woolweaver loaned Burrus a large sum of money, but said investigators are aware of that theory.</p>

<p>Woolweaver just recently moved into her home, which is in a gated community was discovered about 3:46 p.m. Wednesday inside her home by her 13-year-old son when he arrived home from school. She was reportedly shot multiple times with a 9 mm handgun, including at least one gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead on the scene. Authorities have previous described the scene as &#8220;terrible.&#8221;<br />
Because motorists going through those gates of her community must identify their host or themselves as residents, with a sign-in sheet which is handled by a security guard, investigators quickly figured the victim was likely killed by someone she knew.</p>

<p>With the few suspects fitting the bill established, investigators developed Burrus as a suspect through other means, about 9:30 a.m. Thursday and contacted Burrus at his business. He voluntarily went to the sheriff&#8217;s office for questioning, and it was then that they developed enough probable cause to obtain search warrants for his business, home and vehicle. It was in one of those locations that the handgun was recovered, according to police.<br />
Initially Burrus was cooperative but ultimately shut down the questioning. &#8220;When he saw the interview going in a certain direction, he invoked his rights and we respected that,&#8221; Sheriff Samaniego said.<br />
Woolweaver started her career at Wachovia bank where she worked for six years, before becoming a small business banker at Regions Bank in 2007. A year later she became assistant vice president at Renasant Bank. In 2011, she became controller and director of operations at Orange Development Inc. in Birmingham and left there in January 2015.<br />
Her son and daughter are being taken care of by family members,<br />
Her friends set up a <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/memorial-fund-for-connies-children" target="_blank">GoFundMe page</a> for her children that has raised more than $19,000 as of Friday evening.<br />
Burrus is currently being held on $500,000 bond</p>
