String of heists suspected to be drug-motivated
John Thomas Lindsey, a pastor at a local church, is one of two men arrested in connection with nine armed robberies from Charlotte area businesses. His crime spree is suspected to be drug related
According to a wsoctv.com report, John Thomas Lindsey, a pastor at True Love Church of Refuge in Charlotte allegedly robbed two 7-Eleven stores, a Family Dollar store, a Circle K and two Sam’s Marts.
He’s suspected to have fired a shot inside a Family Dollar store back in October.
Surveillance footage in the stores shows a person resembling Lindsey engaged in the robberies.

47 -year-old Thomas Lindsey was charged with 9 counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, 9 counts of conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Drugs are suspected to be the motive for the crimes.

In the wake of the local media attention to the development Lindsey’s church, True Love Church of Refuge released a statement reading: “We, the leadership and membership of True Love Church of Refuge, are deeply saddened and disappointed that our leader and brother, John Thomas Lindsey, is facing charges associated with criminal activity. Though we denounce any involvement he may have had, we love him and will continue to pray for him. The ministry will continue to stand strong despite the latest allegations and will continue to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom.”

Sources say cops were tipped off about the involvement of Lindsey after they arrested 24-year-old Fernando Carillo-Hernandez on Tuesday.
Carillo-Hernandez, who does not appear to be connected to True Love Church of Refuge, allegedly, is responsible for robberies at Circle K locations.
He was charged with three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and three counts of conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
According to the WSOC report, Carillo-Hernandez also has a rap sheet that includes two drug-related convictions.
