Michelle Hadley, 30, who was charged last June with felony stalking, attempted forcible rape, violating a protective order and assault, but on Monday was officially exonerated of all charges.
Hadley who potentially was facing a life time behind bars for pretending to be her ex-boyfriend’s new wife and responding to “rape fantasy” ads on Craigslist allegedly, was framed by the woman originally thought to be her victim, prosecutors said.
“Ms. Hadley is the innocent victim in a diabolical scheme,” Orange County district attorney Tony Rackauckas said.

Prosecutors believe Angela Diaz, 31, is the mastermind behind the plot — she was arrested last week in Arizona and awaits  extradition to California where she will be facing charges that include kidnapping, false imprisonment and falsely reporting crimes.
A motive for the frame job has not yet been identified, but Rackauckas believes it involves a “love triangle,” he told the LA Times.
The connection started when Ian Diaz, an agent with the U.S. Marshals Service who dated Hadley for two years, went on to marry Angela Diaz.

In June 2016, Diaz reported to the Anaheim police that men were coming to her home to engage with her in a “rape fantasy,” prosecutors said. When officers responded to the call they found Diaz in tears, red marks on her face and neck, with her clothes in tatters, the newspaper reported.
Diaz at the time was also telling police that Hadley was threatening to have her raped and that she was sending her graphic emails with threats to kill her and her unborn child.
The arrest complaint charged that Michelle Suzanne Hadley stalked and threatenedAngela Diaz, the newly wed wife of her ex, an agent with the U.S. Marshals, and violated a June 6 restraining order against her.
Investigators said she used the name of the pregnant Diaz in an ad on Craigslist seeking for a partner to indulge in “rape fantasies,” supplying pictures of the victim and the couple’s home address to the male respondents: “Hadley is accused of telling the respondents that the victim wanted these men to have forcible sexual intercourse with her, even if she screamed or resisted,” investigators said in a statement.
Hadley was later arrested for posing as Diaz on Craigslist and telling those she interacted with that she wanted them to have forcible intercourse with her, “even if she screamed or resisted,” prosecutors said last year.

Diaz to investigators one respondent arrived at her apartment and physically attacked her before she was able to call for help and the man fled the scene.”
Hadley, had dated the agent between 2013 and 2015. He then married another Angela Diaz who was pregnant, at the time the incident occurred in in June, 2016.
Investigators also stated that the spurned Hadley, began sending insulting and aggressive emails to Diaz, threatening her life and that of her unborn child, prosecutors said. Investigators believe she used several different computers and servers to try to avoid the police while sending the messages between June 6 and July 13.
In the latest developments, officials on Monday said Diaz was actually the one who responded to the Craigslist ads and that she falsely claimed a man entered her garage and tried to rape her. Diaz allegedly, made a red mark on her neck and ripped her shirt before phoning the police, they said. However, cops said, males did show up, including a 17-year-old.

After Hadley’s arrest, investigators trying to uncover the IP addresses linked to the emails caught a break in September, uncovering an IP address linking some of the threatening emails to Diaz’s condo in Anaheim, California. Thus proving that all the threats had come from Diaz herself, the OC Register reported.
Diaz allegedly sent the emails to herself from eight accounts using private networks and third-party servers in the bid to mask her IP.
Investigators  uncovered more emails allegedly sent from Diaz’s condo, a cellphone and her father’s home in Arizona.
Digging deeper, officials have investigated Diaz for allegedly altering a paycheck from an employer. They also discovered other alleged fraudulent activity including faking cervical cancer, faking a pregnancy, pretending to be an attorney, forging doctor’s notes and impersonating two of her husband’s ex-girlfriends over email, police said.
Hadley was released from jail in October, while Diaz who has since separated from her husband and going through a divorce, this week was awaiting extradition from Arizona.
“Obviously this has been a huge nightmare for me, probably one of the most traumatic experiences of my life,” Hadley told reporters Monday. “I’m glad it’s finally over, and I can move on with my life.”
Diaz faces up to 23 years in custody if convicted.
