In his numerous social media photo hes flaunt that wealth, showing off his Aston Martin with a personalized license plate, performance enhancing drugs, expensive watches and wads of cash. But the 22-year-old from Ancaster, outside Toronto, Canada, is facing 20 years in jail after being accused of involvement in the hacking of 500 million Yahoo user accounts in 2014 in collusion with Russian spies.
This was the largest data breach in history at the time, and the indictments names two agents with the Russian intelligence agency FSB and the two hackers they allegedly hired for the job, including Baratov.

The U.S. Department of Justice said Baratov who also goes by the names “Karim Akehmet Tokbergenov” and “Karim Taloverov” is a Canadian born in Kazahkstan, notorious for flaunting his wealth online with pictures of his Aston Martin, with a personalized license plate and a Porsche parked in the driveway of his suburban home.But who is this now infamous ‘hackmeister’?
According to thestar, property records show that in 2015, Baratov and a middle-aged married couple named Akhmet Tokbergenov and Dinara Tokbergenova, bought a home in an Ancaster subdivision for $642,500, taking out a mortgage of $514,000.
The home was listed for sale on March 13, for about $930,000 but was abruptly delisted two day later.
The man at the center of the largest data breach in history as of three years ago, is a 22-year-old body proud, fitness buff. He claims 11 visits to the gym a week, uses performance enhancing drugs that have been described as ‘experimental biohacking’.

The FBI has issued an arrest warrant and he is now in the custody of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police awaiting extradition to the U.S.
The indictments name two agents with the Russian intelligence agency FSB and two hackers they allegedly hired, including Baratov.
Baratov has been charged with conspiring to commit access device fraud, conspiring to commit wire fraud, aggravated identity theft and conspiring to commit computer fraud and abuse.

He was arrested earlier this week and is facing extradition to the US for trial.
Neighbors said that Baratov lived alone in the $642,500 detached home in Ancaster, outside Toronto in Canada, and that his parents would occasionally come to visit him.
His social media accounts portrayed the life of a millionaire with pictures of him skydiving, attending exotic car events and posing with expensive jewelry and watches.

In a photo he wrote about his new $399 black stainless steel Apple Watch 2 – with a ‘very high quality leather band’ he bought separately. All of his assets could now be seized by the US authorities if he is convicted.

Baratov fitted his Aston Martin DB9 with the licence plate ‘Mr Karim’. He also owned a Mercedes Benz with the number plate ‘Karrrim’, according to online posts.
Among the other cars he claimed to own were an Audi, a Porsche, a Lamborghini and three BMWs.
US authorities confirmed that he did in fact have the Aston Martin and a black Mercedes-Benz sedan, and vehicle records show that he took out loans of $104,000 and $65,000 for each of them respectively.

On Facebook Baratov described the vehicles as his ‘Darth Vader & Storm Trooper combo’ as one was black and the other was painted white.
In a photo he wrote about his new $399 black stainless steel Apple Watch 2 – with a ‘very high quality leather band’ he bought separately.
He wrote that it ‘feels like a true James Bond gadget driving my Aston Martin’ and that he was ‘just in love with that leather band, quality is as high as it can get’.
High school friends said that Baratov was already rich by the time he was in seventh grade.
Jake Hagen told the Toronto Star: ‘He had the biggest amount of disposable income that I’d ever seen for a person that age.
‘He bought his friends everything [like] clothes, and he’d take them all out to dinner.
One neighbor, Kerry Carter, said: ‘We thought there was something strange about him: “How did such a young guy have so many cars?”
Carter said Baratov was generally a quiet neighbour but did throw parties. At times his friends’ pricey cars lined the street, she said.

Baratov’s other main interest appears to have been the gym, and he documented his dramatic weight loss on social media.
Among the numerous posts of him flexing his tattooed muscles was one in which he said his ‘body feels like a little science project’ because he was taking so many bodybuilding supplements.
In a Facebook post Baratov wrote: ‘It feels like Christmas again! Finally SARM RAD-140 Testolone got delivered. Been dying to try it!!’
Nice, generous guy: Old classmates recall Baratov gan flaunting his wealth in high school
One acquaintance, Vadim Polonski, who runs a Toronto-based telecommunications company, told the Wall Street Journal that he met Baratov at charity events organized by car enthusiasts: ‘He’s a super nice guy. I never really knew what he did but I always wondered because it seemed that he was doing really well,’ Polonski said.
For Shane Leo who attended Ancaster High School with Baratov, he was a ‘loyal friend’. Leo the Toronto Star: ‘Anything that he has done in the past does not define him now…He always motivates me to be the best I can be and has been a very positive impact on my life.’
Baratov was proud of his artistic side and posted what he claimed were his pencil sketches including renditions of the Mona Lisa and a nude portrait of Kate Winslet in the film Titanic.
In another he drew himself as The Terminator and also sketched a sack full of money and a pole dancer.

As he appeared before the Judge on Wednesday, the full list of indictees in the Yahoo Inc. data breach include two Russian spies, Dmitry Dokuchaev, 33, an alleged FSB operative and his superior officer in the FSB Igor Sushchin, 43, have also been indicted over the Yahoo breach along with a 29-year-old Russian born hacker, Alexsey Alexseyevich Belan.
US Federal grand juries have indicted Belan twice before, in 2012 and 2013, for computer fraud and abuse, access device fraud and aggravated identity theft involving three US-based e-commerce companies and the FBI placed Belan on its ‘Cyber Most Wanted’ list.
