At one point in a video he took, one of the suspected intruders is seen making a gun-like shape with his hand while stuck on the roof.
Lorry driver Shardy said: “Everybody was really angry, the crowd just turned on them.
“There has been so many robberies in this area recently and these lads were just getting the blame for it all. The police needed to protect them.

“I saw a commotion at the bottom of my road so I asked what was going on.
“It was like an angry mob. Everyone was in shock, there was quite a lot of police there.
“The woman who lives in the house screamed and a lot of the neighbours were outside.
Shardy arrived at the scene at 2pm and left at 2.30pm but the alleged burglars were stuck there for two hours before being arrested.
Shardy said: “They must have been very stupid indeed. Some people just have no respect for other people’s stuff.
“It’s ridiculous if you ask me.
“If it happened to me, I wouldn’t call the police I would just deal with it.
“I bet they didn’t expect that to happen.”

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said three men aged 17, 17 and 20 have been charged with burglary and criminal damage following the incident.
A spokesman said: “Officers attended and three males climbed on to the roof of the property.
“Efforts [were continued] at the scene to bring the males down safely.”
Mr Rehman said the suspected criminals had been on the roof of the house for two hours after being spotted by locals.
The three men were arrested on suspicion of burglary, affray and criminal damage.
