<p>A jealous husband stabbed a man he found at his home drinking and snorting cocaine with his wife, a court has heard. Dentist Philip Gale, 50, allegedly flipped after returning from a day trip to Blackpool to discover wife Jayne Masters, 48, entertaining former pal Andrew Smith, 52. The couple had been married of 13 years.<br />
Gale reportedly had previously caught his wife and his mate [Smith], asleep together several times. Gale was said to have plunged a carving knife four times into Andrew’s back and chest as he tried to leave.<br />
EMts found Gale smoking and “proud and boastful about what he had done”, Preston crown court was told.</p>

<p>In custody, Gale is said to have admitted knifing Andrew, who needed emergency surgery for life-threatening injuries, “for giving my wife cocaine”.<br />
The court heard Gale and Jayne lived “as man and wife” but had affairs and agreed not to bring lovers back to their Foulridge home in Lancashire, UK<br />
But Jayne invited Smith round for drinks last October, thinking he would leave before Gale returned home. The cheating pair however lost track of time . Consequently which Jayne&#8217;s husband walked in on them shortly after 9pm.</p>

<p>When emergency services arrived at the scene they found Gale calmly smoking a cigarette on the couch, while his wife comforted Smith. During the trial Jayne, told the court her husband had never been violent towards her, adding: “He has always looked after me.<br />
“My husband didn’t like his lifestyle.<br />
“He didn’t like his reputation and that is why he didn’t want him in our home.”<br />
Gale denies attempted murder and wounding with intent.<br />
The trial continues.</p>
