When he made the comment about Serena’s baby on Last Friday, that was in reference to Williams’ relationship with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, who is white. Williams since has slammed the Romania Fed Cup team captain for “making racist comments.”
Seemingly unperturbed and imperceptive to the nuances and moral implications of his utterances and vile public conduct, Nastase contends the press and tennis world is out to get him, and have blown his comments out of proportion.

Asked about Williams’ Instagram post in an interview with Romanian website new.ro, Nastase said, “Anything I say, I am the bad boy. … If I said she would have an ugly, black baby, that would have been racist.”
To justify his intransigence, Nastase compared his comments to when Serena’s dad, Richard Willimas , calling tennis veteran Irina Spirlea “a big white turkey” in 1997.
He questioned the legitimacy of writing about his initial comments ahead of the Fed Cup series against Great Britain.
He said: “Why write a news story like this? Just to have a scandal? There are many more important things going on. … These things are pure madness.”

As Halep answered in English, Nastase said in Romanian: “Let’s see what colour it has. Chocolate with milk?”
The International Tennis Federation threatened legal action against him over the remark.
The body said they would not tolerate “discriminatory and offensive language and behaviour”.

Williams’ post also referred to Nastase’s “sexist comments against my peers” — a reference to his verbal abuse directed at Konta, British captain Anne Keothavong and the chair umpire during Fed Cup matches over the weekend.
Nastase called the British pair “f—ing b—-es” for complaining after Konta was disturbed by the crowd during a point. He was thrown out of the match and the rest of the competition by the ITF.
