Javier Bueno-Sanchez: Recklessly and needlessly killed because an 18-year-old girl wanted a device she could not afford

An 18-year-old and two unidentified 17-year-olds were charged with reckless homicide and robbery.
The oldest, 18-year-old Courtney A. Sherman, of Tweed Road in Fox Lake, Illinois, was a passenger in a carload of five teen girls who met (Trinidad) Javier Bueno-Sanchez, 43, in a Meijer store parking lot in Round Lake Beach at 7:55pm on April 24.
The teens, aged 16 to 18, arrived in a packed car at the supermarket in the northern Chicago suburb, cops said.

The teen girls contacted the dad through the Offer Up app and had agreed to buy an iPhone 6 from Bueno-Sanchez for $450.
Police said Bueno-Sanchez conducted the sale while the girls sat in their car in the parking lot. When Sherman, who was in the passenger seat, handed him an envelope with cash in it, he quickly realized he had been scammed. The envelope contained only a few dollars, instead of the $450, as prearranged.

The police report said the car dragged the victim until he fell to the pavement, smacking his head. The suspects then fled the scene, said police.
Sherman is being held on $500,000 bond. The other two unidentified teen girls will likely be charged as adults, said Smith.
Scott said that, tragically, the dad had taken all the right precautions for the sale, meeting the girls early in a well-populated area, and not getting in their car, but he still ended up dead.
‘Young people don’t think of the ramifications of their actions,’ Scott told Fox 40. ‘They think of what they’re planning on doing and they don’t think of the things that can go wrong … with this, everything that could have went wrong did, and it can’t get more serious than it is right now.’
