Damaris Alexandra Reyes Rivas’ body was found in an industrial park in on the 7100 block of Wimsatt Road in Springfield on February 11. She had been stabbed 13 times in the neck and stomach.
Prosecutors announced Thursday they believe 17-year-old Venus Romero Iraheta was the chief attacker who carried out the brutal murder, before they revealed some of the horrible abuse Rivas allegedly suffered before she died.
FBI Special Agent Fernando Uribe told the court the killing was the result of a love triangle involving the two teenage girls and another MS-13 member, 21-year-old Christian Sosa Rivas, who was found dead a month earlier.
Prosecutors said Thursday that they believe 17-year-old Venus Romero Iraheta was the chief attacker who carried out the brutal slaying Maryland teen, of Damaris Alexandra Reyes Rivas. She could be tried as an adult
Uribe testified that another MS-13 member called Damaris on January 8 and arranged to pick her up, with the 15-year-old thinking they were going to smoke marijuana, the Washington Post reports.
However, she was instead driven by the gang member , 18-year-old Jose Castillo Rivas, who is also charged in the death and had a preliminary hearing Thursday – to an abandoned area near Springfield’s Lake Accotink Park, where she was questioned by Iraheta about her relationship with Christian Rivas and where he was.
Her execution was captured on video by her alleged killers, at least two of whom came to the country as unaccompanied minors. One girl, a 17-year-old, Venus Romero Iraheta, arrived around the same time as Damaris and hailed from the same city in El Salvador. She and Damaris had reportedly both dated Sosa. She has been identified as the lead attacker in the brutal murder of the 15-year-old Rivas.

The lake is about two miles from the industrial park where Damaris’ body was found. He was also charged in her death, Thursday.
The 15-year-old was forced to take her shirt and shoes off, then stand in icy water and snow so she would ‘feel as much pain as Christian.’
Uribe told the court Damaris then confessed to having a sexual relationship with the missing 21-year-old, before telling her abductors to call another MS-13 member to get more information about where Christian was.
Furious, Iraheta then allegedly knocked her 15-year-old to the ground and stabbed her, before sending a final message to her victim.
‘Venus told her she would never forgive her and told her she would see her in hell,’ Agent Uribe testified in court.
‘She would never forget her name.’
Another person close to the case added that Iraheta sliced a diamond tattoo off Damaris, which the teen had allegedly gotten to symbolize her relationship with Christian Rivas.
