Damaris Alexandra Reyes Rivas’ body was found in an industrial park in on the 7100 block of Wimsatt Road in Springfield on February 11. She had been stabbed 13 times in the neck and stomach.
Prosecutors announced Thursday they believe 17-year-old Venus Romero Iraheta was the chief attacker who carried out the brutal murder, before they revealed some of the horrible abuse Rivas allegedly suffered before she died.
FBI Special Agent Fernando Uribe told the court the killing was the result of a love triangle involving the two teenage girls and another MS-13 member, 21-year-old Christian Sosa Rivas, who was found dead a month earlier.

Uribe testified that another MS-13 member called Damaris on January 8 and arranged to pick her up, with the 15-year-old thinking they were going to smoke marijuana, the Washington Post reports.
However, she was instead driven by the gang member , 18-year-old Jose Castillo Rivas, who is also charged in the death and had a preliminary hearing Thursday – to an abandoned area near Springfield’s Lake Accotink Park, where she was questioned by Iraheta about her relationship with Christian Rivas and where he was.
Her execution was captured on video by her alleged killers, at least two of whom came to the country as unaccompanied minors. One girl, a 17-year-old, Venus Romero Iraheta, arrived around the same time as Damaris and hailed from the same city in El Salvador. She and Damaris had reportedly both dated Sosa. She has been identified as the lead attacker in the brutal murder of the 15-year-old Rivas.

Moments before she died, Damaris begged for forgiveness, according to people familiar with the case, but the 17-year-old allegedly slashed her with a bowie knife. Her body was found behind the Springfield Square apartments, near a highway overpass marred with MS-13 graffiti,

FBI Special Agent Fernando Uribe told the court 18-year-old Jose Castillo Rivas picked up Damaris Alexandra Reyes Rivas, and drove her to the lake side where she was killed. The lake is about two miles from the industrial park where Damaris’ body was found. He was also charged in her death, Thursday.
The 15-year-old was forced to take her shirt and shoes off, then stand in icy water and snow so she would ‘feel as much pain as Christian.’
Uribe told the court Damaris then confessed to having a sexual relationship with the missing 21-year-old, before telling her abductors to call another MS-13 member to get more information about where Christian was.
Furious, Iraheta then allegedly knocked her 15-year-old to the ground and stabbed her, before sending a final message to her victim.
‘Venus told her she would never forgive her and told her she would see her in hell,’ Agent Uribe testified in court.
‘She would never forget her name.’
Another person close to the case added that Iraheta sliced a diamond tattoo off Damaris, which the teen had allegedly gotten to symbolize her relationship with Christian Rivas.

A total of 10 people have been charged over the death, including five charged with murder.
Four adults, Cindy Blanco Hernandez, 18, Wilmer A. Sanchez-Serrano, 21, Aldair J. Miranda Carcamo, 18, Jose Castillo Rivas, 18, and six juveniles, a 15-year-old girl, 16-year-old boy, two 17-year-old boys and a 17-year-old girl, have been charged with abduction and gang participation, police say.

Iraheta sat silently in the courtroom on Thursday as Uribe told the court all the alleged, horrible details of the murder.
Meanwhile, the victim’s mother was seen wiping away tears at various points.who Maria Reyes previously told the Washington Post in March that she had moved with her daughter to the US to flee the type of violencethat eventually cost the teen her life: “I didn’t know people like that existed in the United States,”Reyes told the Washingtonpost, referring to the MS-13 gang.
‘I thought it was super safe to have my daughter here with me.’
The current hearing is to determine whether or not Iraheta should be tried as an adult.
Police believe the murder of Christian Rivas was the result of a power struggle, as the 21-year-old had reportedly claimed to be the leader of a local chapter. Christian Rivas was murdered in January in a suspected gangland hit.
His body washed ashore on the Potomac River near Dumfries, Virginia.

Four more people, including Edgar Oswaldo Blanco Torres, Jose Martir Larios Espenal and Samuel Enrique Villalobos Sanchez have also been charged with murder in the case. Police have not released the name of the fourth accused male, who is a minor.
MS-13 whom the US Attorney General Jeff Sessions branded the gang a national menace that poses “the greatest threat to Americans’ safety”, has been behind dozens of high-profile murders across the US after spreading from Latin America, in recent months, with 18 arrested in the Washington area alone.
The ultra-violent street gang MS-13 was the first to be designated as an international criminal group. Membership is estimatated to be as high as 20,000 in 46 states. Members are accused of major crimes including murder, kidnapping, prostitution, drug smuggling and human trafficking.
They have also been linked to the death of two teen girls in Long Island, New York and the execution of one teen and abduction of another in Houston, Texas.
