Car jacker did not expect woman at gas pump to risk life and limb in her attempt to stop him stealing her car

The thief was forced to abandon the cause and escape in his get away vehicle

Melissa Smith was filling up her car at a gas station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, when a would be car thief jumped into the vehicle and tried to drive away.
With her back turned at the pump, a dark Cadillac sedan with some young men pulled up in front of her at the station. The door flung open and the carjacker, crept stealthily towards her driver’s door. As the thief got behind the wheel, Smith, 28, realized the danger and did some quick thinking.

Quick thinking helped Melissa Smith foil a potential carjacking

She quickly raced to the front of the vehicle and jumped on top of the hood.  with the thief determined to complete the robbery, she changed from a kneeling position to a sprawl, determinedly hanging on as the thief tried to drive off with her vehicle.
Eventually , he gave up and rejoined his accomplices in their waiting get away car while the grateful car owner got back into her car and took off
Reviewing the CCTV captured video of the robbery attempt, Smith said it wasn’t until later that she had considered the potential danger of her actions. She said the thief laughed at her throughout the ordeal. ‘He showed no remorse’, she said, recalling that the carjacker slammed on the brakes twice in an attempt to shake her off the hood.
” I don’t have time for c**p,” a still bristling Melissa she said as she recalled pondering whether to save her purse or go after her car.
The urge to save her SUV eventually won, as she thought of what it took to get the vehicle, she said

Quick thinking: After the thief gets behind the wheel, realizing what had just happened the car owner quickly dashes to the front of her car and vaults on top of the hood. She looks across at the would be thief, who all the while is laughing at her situation.

stalemate: You are not making off with my car!

The determined carjacker wants a successful heist and wont back down and tries some tricks of his own. He slams on the brakes, once, twice, in an unsuccessful bid to shake her off the moving vehicle. She switched positions on him and clung on to her automobile.

He decides to drive off with the car he was stealing anyway, mindless of the vehicle owner now sprawled on the hood.

I give up: The car thief abandons Melissa’s white SUV and jumps back into his get away car that had been waiting all along.

Scoot over: ‘Time to get out of here’!  

His accomplices open the door for the carjacker to get back into the waiting get away car, while a hysterical Melissa jumps into her own vehicle to stop it from rolling into on coming traffic.
