<article>A Mississippi man apparently angered over a custody dispute went on the largest crime spree in the history Lincoln County.<br />
Willie Cory Godbolt fatally gunned the mother of his estranged wife, Barbara Mitchell, 55, her sister, Brenda May, 53, and Barbara&#8217;s 35-year-old daughter, Tocarra May.<br />
The shootings spree sparked off Saturday night after Godbolt went to the Bogue Chitto residence of his stepfather-in-law, Vincent Mitchell to talk to his wife about their children.<br />
According to Mitchell things turned tragic after cops were called to the house to remove belligerent suspect. When deputy William Durr arrived, Godbolt opened fire killing 36-year-old Durr, and three of the four women present in the home. The shooter the drove over to a second home, located in Brookhaven, and killed two boys, 17-year-old Jordan Blackwell, a student at Brookhaven High School, and Austin Edwards, who went to Lipsy Middle School.<br />
Monday Mississippi authorities confirmed that Ferral Burage, 45, and Shelia Burage, 46, were the final victims of Willie Corey Godbolt&#8217;s seven-hour shooting spree.<br />
Cory Godbolt who was arrested by deputies Sunday morning admitted to murdering eight people, including a sheriff’s deputy, in a series of shootings.<br />
“I was having a conversation … about me taking my children home, and somebody called the officer,” he told the <a href="http://www.clarionledger.com/story/news/local/2017/05/28/man-sought-death-lincoln-deputy-multiple-others-allegedly-has-16-year-old-hostage/352133001/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Clarion-Ledger</a>. Godbolt said he planned to kept wrecking havoc until the police killed him, but he “ran out of bullets.”<br />
He said he was ready to die for his crimes.<br />
“I ain’t fit to live, not after what I done,” he said.</p>
<p>“Not in y’all eyes, not in nobody else’s eyes. But God, you know, he forgives you for everything.”</article>

<article>Authorities from multiple agencies took Cory Godbolt into custody on East Lincoln Road in Brookhaven Sunday morning after they say he killed eight people, including the Lincoln County deputy, who was responding to the domestic dispute call at the initial crime scene.<br />
Godbolt, 36, subsequently fled from police and allegedly killed more people at three different scenes, two in Brookhaven and one in Bogue Chitto, all in Lincoln County.<br />
The suspect the <a href="http://www.clarionledger.com/story/news/local/2017/05/28/man-sought-death-lincoln-deputy-multiple-others-allegedly-has-16-year-old-hostage/352133001/">Clarion-Ledger </a>reporter he did it because he loved his wife and children and he loves Bogue Chitto.</article>

<article> He said he had gone to a residence off Lee Road in Bogue Chitto in order to talk about his children. At some point neighbors called police, and that&#8217;s when the deputy arrived to try to calm the situation.<br />
&#8220;My pain wasn&#8217;t designed for him. He was just there,&#8221; Godbolt said as he sat on the road waiting to be transported by ambulance. &#8220;We was talking about me trying to take the children home&#8230; somebody called the officer&#8230;. that&#8217;s what they do, they intervene. It cost him his life. I&#8217;m sorry.&#8221;<br />
When asked what&#8217;s next for him, Godbolt said, &#8220;Death &#8230; Suicide by cop was my intention. I ain&#8217;t fit to live. Not after what I&#8217;ve done.&#8221;</p>

<p><span class="s1">A 16-year-old male Godbolt had taken as a hostage was found safe, Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing said.<br />
Godbolt was treated at the scene for a gunshot wound to his arm. He was shot prior to his arrest, police said, possibly by one of the victims or someone at one of the three locations</span>.<br class="s1" /> Gov. Phil Bryant issued a statement asking for prayers in the aftermath of the tragedy: “Every day, the men and women who wear the badge make some measure of sacrifice to protect and serve their communities. Too often, we lose one of our finest. I thank the law enforcement agencies involved for their hard work,” Bryant said.<br />
<span class="s1">Godbolt could face additional charges such as auto burglary and kidnapping, Strain said.</span></p>
