<article id="ra-body">A 39-year-old Brooklyn man was sentenced Thursday to more than 23 years in prison for a terrifying attack on his ex-girlfriend inside their Manhattan apartment.<br />
Brian Quattrocchi, then 37, knifed and pummeled his former girlfriend Olga Pichardo, after police showed up at their home in the Vladeck Houses on Madison St. on the Lower East Side on January 26, 2015.<br />
Cops zapped him with a stun gun and finally shot him to stop the violent attack on the then 40-year-old victim.<br />
“Brian Quattrocchi&#8217;s years of inflicting physical, mental, and emotional abuse on his ex-girlfriend culminated in this vicious and terrifying attack,” Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance Jr. said in a statement.<br />
Quattrocchi was convicted of attempted murder, kidnapping and first-degree attempted assault.<br />
In January, 2015, Quattrocchi, who was on parole for robbery, had attacked Olga Pichardo, 40, split her lip and stabbed her three times, the police said.<br />
Pichardo was hospitalized but, survived the attack.<br />
The police were seeking to arrest him for assaulting the victim a few weeks earlier. but did not find him until they responded to another call for a domestic dispute at the victim&#8217;s home.</p>

<p>The shooting of Quattrocchi followed an attempt by a team of emergency service officers, including to subdue him by non-lethal means, the police said. As he began to stab Ms. Pichardo, one officer tried to stop him using a stun gun, the police said. When that failed, the detective fired, the police said.<br />
Officers from the local precinct responded to the call about a dispute in a second-floor apartment in Manhattan. Responding officers met the suspect barricaded inside the apartment with Pichardo.<br />
NYPD Emergency Service Unit, called to the scene soon after, began communicating with the suspect through the door, and heard his hostage screaming about being stabbed, the police said. The officers burst through the door and found him holding a knife to the woman’s neck. After one fired the stun gun, the police said, the man stabbed her, and the detective opened fire.</p>
