A California police captain and his ex-girlfriend were found dead in an apparent murder suicide after a six-hour standoff with a SWAT team, police said.
Investigators believe Los Alamitos police captain Rick Moore, 49, shot and killed Amanda Jensen, a 37-year-old Westminster City Clerk, before he turned the gun on himself in Seal Beach, California, on Sunday night.
Police received a 911 call at 7.20pm that was cut off, and a SWAT team surrounded the apartment complex before their bodies were found recovered at around 2am.

The Los Alamitos police captain and the city clerk were identified as the man and woman who were found dead inside a Seal Beach apartment Monday morning following an hours-long standoff.

The bodies of Amanda Jensen and Capt. Rick Moore were discovered in the 100 block of Seventh Street around 2 a.m., more than seven hours after officers responded to a woman’s help call, according to the Seal Beach Police Department.
The line was disconnected at some point during the call, which was made around 7:20 p.m., police said in a news release. Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots.
Officers arriving at the scene surrounded the apartment building and evacuated nearby homes while a SWAT team responded to a possible barricade situation, authorities said.
six hours later, police entered the apartment and discovered the deceased man and woman, both had apparent gunshot wounds. Investigators believe Moore shot Jensen before he turned the gun on himself.

Police from at least six neighboring departments assisted, and a Special Weapons and Tactics team was called in to surround the apartment. The bodies of Moore and Jensen were found after a six-hour standoff, both dead from apparent gunshot injuries.
Investigators believe Moore shot Jensen and killed himself after they got into an argument.

‘I feel safe saying they were in a dating relationship. But they had broken up,’ Henderson said.
Moore’s neighbors said Jensen would visit the police captain after he moved into the apartment about four months ago. One neighbor Greg Meier, a maintenance worker who lives in the complex, observed: ‘It’s been a volatile relationship.’
Jensen, who was a troop leader for the Girl Scouts, was appointed the Westminster City Clerk in 2015 after working in the office for nearly a decade.
Moore has been a member of the Los Alamitos Police Department since 2008.
